Optometrist for the Correction of Myopia Evaluation Trial (COMET)
COMET was a multi-center clinical trial investigating myopic progression in children
wearing either single vision or progressive addition lenses. Responsible for

examination and follow-up of approximately 75% of the 118 children enrolled at the
Houston site. Each child was examined at least every 6 months.
Optometrist for the Collaborative Longitudinal Evaluation of Ethnicity and
Refractive Error (CLEERE)
CLEERE is a multi-center, observational investigation of ocular development and
refractive error development in school-aged children. Responsible for collection of
data such as phoria and accommodation measures and videophakometry. Responsible
for sending letters to the parents of all children screened indicating the results of the
screening (approximately 650 children).

Hermann Eye Center under the supervision of Judianne Kellaway, MD. Conducted
extensive examination of the posterior segment and developed skills in the comanagement of diabetic and hypertensive patients. Diagnosed and participated in the
management of diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, and other retinal anomalies.
Externship Rotation, Summer 1996
Hermann Eye Center under the supervision of Richard Yee, MD. Conducted extensive
examination of the anterior segment and provided pre- and post-operative care of
cataract, RK, and PKP patients. Performed diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in
the management of dry eyes and blepharitis.
