■Questioners
● Put it on a white board?
● Should other people besides Nicole and Rick talk?
○ Next Year’s GG plans:
○
■Nicole will probably be training someone in the Fall
● What does the Event Planning organizer position entail?
■Possibilities for GG layout:
● A: Every Week, minus week 5 and 10: SQ,
○ This allows more other groups to use our space
■DR: not a lot of people contacting Nicole currently to
use GG
■We will have all of spring in plan 2
○ Attendance has been consistently low
■there isn’t enough time in a week to advertise
● B: Fall and Winter, limit to Blueprint Breakouts, plus weeks 1 and
10 for recruitment. Spring, have a limited number of GGs and
make them ah-mazing
○ This looks good so we can put a lot of effort into these
○ People would be more likely to come
○ Up the budget for the GGs
○ Outreach has to be bigger
○ Maybe weeks 2 and 9 is more realistic for attendance
■Week one for Fall quarter though
○ Interns use GG as a majority of their time
○ It will still be a lot of work for whoever does them
○ Showcase more the campaigns and their plans
■grow excitement and longevity of postitions
○ Potentially extend breakouts to include highlights of our
and others projects
○ Outreach always no matter which option we choose.
○ Breakouts: may have less than 5
■it was a lot of work
■collaboration with CUIP and Events organizer
■Let’s have a vote!!
● Plan B:
○ Fall and Winter- limit to Blueprint Breakouts, plus weeks 2
and 9 for recruitment.
○ Spring- have a limited number of GGs and make them ahmazing

■New salad bowl
■More presentable dinnerware
● Cost plus
○ Replacing cups
● Salvation Army for plates
■Towels
■Sponges
■Chopsticks
■More hand sanitizer
■Maybe let’s hold off and see is SlugWare will be a viable option for this
●
●
SUA Endorsment (855-905)
○ Co-organizer discussed it and don’t think it’s a good idea because we don’t know
everything about them and they needed a decision by today
○ Are we all comfortable with that?
■Andrew read up on it and noticed that SUA doesn’t follow through with
supporting sustainability
■Same platform every year... not for it
■Would have been a different story if they followed up after the sustainability
mixer
○ Potential new position opening up in SUA that we should discuss
○ We should all still go out and vote!!!!!
Sustainabiliteam bringback
○ Angela went to the meeting on Saturday
○ Jarid also went
■interorg collaboration on campus needs to be improved beyond sustainability
orgs
■SUAs involvement in sustainability
■Should sustainabiliteam be an org?
■Gabi passed it off, no next meeting scheduled yet
■Acknowledgement at graduation
■Coordinating better, campus calendar (too many meetings on Saturdays and
Sundays
○ So, last sunday we talked about all the cool accomplished projects that happened within
UCSC's sustainability organizations. We talked a little about future plans each org(the
ones that attended at least) has in store for the upcoming year.
○
○
○
○
○
○
○
●
The biggest topic that I got out of the meeting that night was "How can UCSC's
sustainability team be more involved with SUA?" (vise versa)
The enviro orgs could:
-increase inputs at the SUA meetings
- be a bigger support to other non-related orgs(this will have them support our cause
too and will integrate sustainable practices for their projects as well)
Pretty much, we are encouraged to build bridges with SUA and other orgs on campus to
build awareness.
○
○ If I missed anything, Jarid should be able to fill you in :)
○
Higher Education Conference (905-910)
○ Vote: Joyce funding to go. She sent an email explaining how she will bring back
what she learns. She will be volunteering
○ VOTE (Approved):
■We will fund half and ask for her to ask ESLP to fund half
■Do we have enough money in the budget (ask Alex)?
○ who is going?
●
●
■Darya (maybe)
■Jarid (will not need funding)
■Tash (maybe)
■Marissa (maybe)
○ 18th is the deadline
Outreach (Christiana) (910-920)
○ Tabling Wednesday starting at 12:30
■test run
■Weekly thing until the end of the quarter
○ cookies @ table?
■Vegan cookies!
■What about giving healthier snacks (strawberries and other berries in season)
■Could attract people who are not very interested in sustainability
■Use Rock the Bike for music or smoothies
● bike our outreach materials to table
○ Sweatshirts/Banner
■Hoodies and a new banner!
■Met with Joyce and contacted graphics guy but he didn’t get back to us yet.
Need more concrete information
● How many?
● What color?
● Back? Front?
Logos: vote/edits? (Kai) (920-930)
○ Logo 6
■make it only a circle, no banner
○ Sweatshirt doesn’t necessarily have to be the same as our SEC logo
○ Vote for our favorite (or 2 favorites) so that Kai can keep working on those
■Logo 1: 0
■Logo 2: 0
■Logo 3: 12
■Logo 4: 4
■Logo 5: 1
■Logo 6: 15
○ The logos look too much like our school logos, make them more unique
○ Eliza is not a fan of the banner
○ Logo 6:
■UCSC should be more legible
■Make it more clear and simple maybe no grey background
■Take out UCSC and have it be a circle
■Student Environmental Center on top (half circle)
■Sky should be blue
■Different font (too cursivy)
■More like Santa Cruz: green mountains!
●
●
■Take out the circle so that you can see the UCSC letters in the background:
could look better on a rectangular banner
■Script should be off-white or white not grey
■Andrew: add farming aspect like rows so it represents our campus more
■UCSC at the bottom by the river
■Amber-year 2012 in it
○ Logo 3:
■Different font for Student Environmental Center
○ Should we each pay for half of the sweatshirt? And sell to others? We want to
give them as a gift to people who have worked with us for a long time!
○ Thinking about giving them away at events
○ Ideally we could buy more
○ Kai create other versions and email them to steering before next week
○ Next steering there will be multiple edits and we will vote on the definite logo for
sweatshirts
Strawberry Justice Festival (Christiana) (930-935)
○ tabling spreadsheet
■Reminders will be e-mailed out, please don’t be late!
○ trash talkers
■no one can edit it as of now... email Peter if he hasn’t changed this yet
○ RTB will bekkkkii there
○ SOS Flyer Approval
■no need! It’s part of the campaign’s budget
MidQuarter Check-In (935-945)
○ Darya■having 3 interns has been helpful because of all the projects
■excited to finish slugware
■wants to stay in SEC with waste and maybe jump around for the remainder of
next year
○ Amber■Frustrated with training interns because they are leaving
■Re-considering environmental sorority idea
■Might go to Costa Rica in the Fall
■Might not work for SEC in the summer because might work with Penny’s
downtown
