Syllabus: Spanish 5 IB/AP
2012-2013
The Spanish 5 IB/AP syllabus comprises three parts: language, texts, and cultural
awareness. These three parts are not considered in isolation but fully integrated. All
language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) are studied through a range of
texts and materials and enable an awareness of the Spanish-speaking world. The syllabus
approaches the learning of language through meaning through the study of core themes
with the objective of expanded receptive, productive and interactive skills. This program
encourages students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners of the Spanish
