Plaques and Premium Sponsors
Club meeting minutes can be found on the website.
There are many area businesses, 4-H clubs and
individuals who donate time, money, and plaques for
the Fair. Please take time to send a thank you to
them for their support if you were awarded a trophy.
Informant Reminder
Fair Premium Checks
Fair premium checks will be arriving in October. You
will get them from your club leader at your 4-H club
meeting. It is very important that you cash your
check as soon as possible. State Aid for our fair is
lost on all uncashed checks.
Do you have news you want
included in the 4-H
informant? The deadline
for having news in the
informant is by the 20th of
each month. Please make sure
you keep this in mind so that we
can get the Informant out on time.
Recycled Ribbon Program
Have you ever given a thought as to what to do with
all your Pierce County Fair Ribbons? How about
recycling them? If you happen to have any old
ribbons, instead of throwing them away, we would
love them back (even some of them) to reuse again.
Of course, they need to be in good condition and not
have any writing on the tag. Please drop them off at
the Fair Office or give them to your club leader.
2
We will accept Jr. Fair and Open Class ribbons. If you
aren’t interested in keeping all your ribbons, please
consider donating them back to the fair. As budgets
continue to tighten, every little bit helps.

clubs advertising the Fair. Thank you to the 12 clubs
who helped promote the Pierce County Fair in their

signs. We hope to increase the number of clubs
participating for next year’s fair. Over the winter
months is a great time to start working on your fair

Parents Workshop
Raising Your Spirited Child Workshop
The key word that distinguishes spirited
children from other children is “more” –
more intense, more persistent, more
sensitive, and more uncomfortable with
change. The spirited child can easily
overwhelm parents, leaving them feeling
frustrated and ineffective.
This workshop series will help dads,
moms, grandparents and other caretakers:
 Understand your child’s temperamental traits
 Identify cues leading up to challenging behavior
 Cope with tantrums and blow-ups when they do occur
 Develop strategies for reducing or eliminating power
struggles (especiallyat mealtime, bedtime, dressing)
A series of workshops will be held on
three consecutive Mondays in September
at the Pierce County Office Building
Meeting Room in Ellsworth from 6:30 –
8:30 p.m.
Oct. 6 -  What Makes Kids Spirited?  Intensity
Oct. 13  Persistence  Sensitivity
Oct. 20 Perceptiveness Adaptability
