EBENEZER ~Bob White Rd~ Cemetery
Visited November 30, 2003
By Members & Volunteers of the
Isle of Wight Historical Society
(Revised January 18, 2003)
OBSERVATIONS
The cemetery is located at the intersection of Bob White Road and Poor House Road about 10 miles west of
Smithfield. Major parts of it are overgrown and damage from hurricane Isabel is evident. Trees have fallen
causing major damage to some tombstones and crypts. Some graves are beneath large fallen trees and are
inaccessible for transcribing. Debris consisting of flower containers and other grave decorations that have
blown from their original placement is abundant. Many graves are nothing more than dirt mounds with no
visible identification. Some stone markers carry no inscription so it becomes impossible to identify the persons
buried there. Approximately 88 unmarked graves were found.
