This website front page shown below contains links to the meeting schedule and agenda, director of UCC members, various UCC curriculum forms, and guidelines. 5 MEETING SCHEDULE, AGENDAS, AND MINUTES The UCC Agenda and Minutes page lists the individual dates for the meetings, a link to the agenda, and a link to the minutes from the previous UCC meeting. The page is found at http://access.nku.edu/ucc/ucc_agenda_2003.htm. Unless notified, the meeting is scheduled to begin at 3:05 pm in AC 722. 6 DIRECTORY OF UCC MEMBERS This page lists the UCC members who will serve on the curriculum committee for the current academic year. The page is updated during the month of September and lists the name, department, office location, telephone, and e-mail (with link) of each member. The page showing all the members is found at: http://access.nku.edu/UCC/2003/ucc_members.htm. COLLEGE CURRICULUM COMMITTEES Each college has a curriculum committee that reviews curriculum actions prior to placing the request on the UCC agenda. The committee typically meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month during the academic year. Each committee is chaired by a member of the faculty. This page is updated when information is available and not always maintained. 7 SUBMISSION PROCESS AND GUIDELINES This page contains a list of guidelines and procedures for electronic submission of the various curriculum forms (some are in the process of being completed and should be ready by December). The page also contains links to a detailed description of each form, detailed description of the UCC program and course approval process, detailed procedures for creating an articulation agreement, detailed information about the needs assessment process required for all new programs including sample surveys, list of NKU approved program bands, general education course guidelines and sample syllabi, web-based course guidelines, and various other information about the curriculum process. 8 WHAT FORM SHOULD I USE? For questions about what form to use for specific curriculum action, a new page is available at: http://access.nku.edu/ucc/2003/formselection.htm. The table is broken into two sections, one for program forms and one for course forms. The following picture shows the various program action forms available and a header which describes the curriculum action. Each form includes a link to the particular form. Each box in the table represents the steps and forms needed for approval of proposed program or course actions. 9 The previous table lists the course action forms available and a header which describes the course action. SYLLABUS SUBMISSION PROCEDURES To submit a syllabus or other file, are three options outlined on the UCC website. For syllabus upload options, see http://access.nku.edu/ucc/2003/syllabusfile.asp. For other file upload options, see http://access.nku.edu/ucc/2003/otherfile.asp. 10 APPROVAL PROCESS FOR CURRICULUM ACTIONS For questions about the steps required for approval and approximate timelines, see the following new page: http://access.nku.edu/ucc/2003/APPROVALPROCESS. htm. The page shows the steps in the approval process for programs and courses and includes links to the various forms. The page is broken down into two sections, Program and Course. The following is an abbreviated listing of the forms: 11 CURRICLUM COMMITTEE BYLAWS AND MANUAL This page contains links to the University Curriculum Committee bylaws and manual. The manual is being revised and should be available soon. The page is found at: http://access.nku.edu/UCC/2003/bylaws.htm. 12 SUBMIT FORM This page lists all the course forms available for the various curriculum actions. Links to the individual form and appropriate signature page are provided. Links to the appropriate signature page and a request for verifying library resources are included within the original form submission process. The page listing all the individual forms is found at: http://access.nku.edu/UCC/2003/curriculum_forms.asp 13 VIEW PROPOSED CURRICULUM FORMS This page contains a list of the various submitted curriculum forms by type and a link to the complete listing of specific forms. Two options are listed, one for current year and one for all forms. Current Year The “Current Year” link will take you to a listing of all the different form types (Appendix C, Appendix G, etc.) submitted for the current academic year. Click on the particular form type and a page appears with all the forms submitted for review during the current year. The page lists all the forms submitted, the curriculum actions (submitted, 14 approved by college Curriculum committee, final approval, etc.), date of curriculum action, course type or degree level, and date curriculum form was originally submitted. The following is an example list of Appendix H forms submitted for the 2003 academic year. All Forms The “All Forms” link will take you to a similar page, but all forms submitted since the database was created (2001) are displayed. This information is good for researching “when” and “if” a particular curriculum form was submitted and approved. 15 UPDATE CURRICULUM APPROVAL ACTION This page links to a form that will electronically update the “Curriculum Action” box on the curriculum form. Typically this is done by the College Curriculum Committee chairs, the UCC chair, and Curriculum, Accreditation. All submitted forms for the current academic year are included in the list. The following is an abbreviated list: 16 UPDATE CURRICULUM FORM There is an additional link that was added this year to allow a limited number of electronic updates to the submitted curriculum forms. While it will not change the original information submitted, the form updates and date update was submitted will be shown on the program/course form when displayed. The following is an abbreviated list: 17 LIBRARY RESOURCE CHECKING FORMS This page contains links to the various forms used to request “library resource checking.” All new programs, minors, area of concentrations, and courses are required to submit the electronic request form. All the new program and new course forms contain a link from the last page that directs the original proposer to a form to that will send an e-mail to library personnel to review the status of library resources for the proposed program/course. After a review of the library materials available, the original form submitted is updated electronically with the status of available library resources. 18 GENERAL EDUCATION INFORMATION This page contains links to the “General Education Proposal” that was approved by Faculty Senate in 2003. SAMPLE OF ENCHANCEMENTS FOR 2003 The ability to electronically submit updates to individual program/course forms. The ability to electronically submit Word and PDF documents directly to the UCC website. Can be used for syllabi or other long documents that need to be placed on the UCC website. The “Curriculum Action” information was added to all lists of submitted forms. The forms include the capability to request a new or additional “Major Codes” for use in SIS. FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS The capability to search the UCC website for forms and information. The ability to update individual fields within the individual forms.
