SAUCON VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL M.E. ILLICK CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Application Information ● All sophomores and juniors who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.6 or greater may apply for admission to The M.E. Illick Chapter of the Saucon Valley High School National Honor Society. Those students possessing the minimum GPA should receive a letter in the mail notifying them that their GPA makes them eligible to apply. ● Admission is not automatic. In addition to having the required GPA, applicants must demonstrate significant accomplishment and/or participation in the four areas indicated on the application form. Each area is weighted equally in the application process, so it is necessary to have some accomplishments in each area. ● Application Fee - In order for your application to be considered, each applicant must submit an application fee to the advisor in the amount of $36 (thirty six dollars), by cash, or by check, payable to SVHS National Honor Society, within two school days of the submission of his or her application. This one time fee is used to offset the cost of NHS induction supplies and NHS graduation supplies. If after the application process you have not been selected for membership, the check or cash will be returned to you. ● All activities, accomplishments, etc. included in the application must have taken place during high school. Do not include anything that occurred before you were in high school (only grade 9 and later). Doing so could jeopardize your chances for admission. ● Paper applications will not be accepted or considered for review. ● Make sure your application is neat and readable. ● All applications are read anonymously by the Saucon Valley NHS Faculty Council. Your name will be removed and replaced with a number. Please avoid indicating your identity anywhere in the application. Anonymity ensures impartiality and makes the selection process much easier for the committee. ● Scoring - The total earned points possible on this application is 20. A score of 15 points is necessary in order for the Faculty Council to elect you to serve as a member of the National Honor Society. PLEASE NOTE: Honor Society is a service organization. Membership is a highly sought after honor, but it requires commitment to the ideals of the organization. Your acceptance of membership in Honor Society will indicate your willingness to participate in all National Honor Society activities such as meetings and service projects. Failure to comply with these requirements can result in dismissal from the National Honor Society. ALL APPLICATION FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED & RETURNED VIA EMAIL TO MRS.
