Mr. Noor, CESVI BW base manager, opened the meeting and
welcomed the representatives of the agencies and highly
thanked the acceptance of the meeting, he also mentioned that
this invitation came from UNICEF and requested from CESVI
to organize and facilitate this meeting. In addition he briefed the
standing agenda to the participants of the meeting and
emphasized the significance of such coordination meetings,
then requested the participants to make a quick round table
introduction presenting their names and organizations.
Finally, CESVI BW base manager, Mr. Noor Mohamed
Abdinur has officially opened the meeting and urged WASH
Partners to act their role in mitigating risks of El Nino effects.
After distribution and Review of the 4W pivot table, it was
agreed that there is ongoing/planning WASH Interventions in
Beledweyne Hiran Region, as the following agencies presented

CESVI Implementing/planning WASH integrated projects
funded by DFID.
 Mr. Shacban mentioned that they work seven sites in
Beledweyne for WASH interventions namely Garash,
Shinile, Lebow, Helikelyo, Dhay Wabar, Qoydo, and
Beledweyne town.
He also briefed to the member of activities that were
completed the last month which includes:
 Distribution of 1000 HKs ( each kit contains 2
jerry cans 20 liter, 3 sanitary clothes, 10 bar
soap, 100 piece of aqua tab) to 1000 HHs
beneficiaries in the project target sites.
 Distribution of 800 NFIs ( each NFI kit
composed of mosquito net, Blanket, Plastic sheet
and HH utensils; 5 cups, 5 small spoons, 2
cooking pots, plates, one serving spoon and one
knife) to 800 HHs beneficiaries. This activity is
ongoing and about to finish.
 Hygiene promotion campaign to 1000 HHs
beneficiaries in the project target sites.
 Distributed 1000 sand bags for four Riverine
villages.
 Extra sand bags 1028 are planned to distribute
the Riverine villages in Beledweyne.

DRC implementing/planning WASH integrated projects
funded by OFDO & ECHO.
 Miss. Fowziya, wash coordinator, DRC reported that
Berkad rehabilitation has been completed in Mataban
district, she also mentioned that 20 latrine has been
constructed in Ceelgaal and Shirkaneeco in Beledweyne
town. She also mentioned that 30 latrine constructed in
Mataban and Beergadid
 Hygiene kits distribution to 500 HHs beneficiaries is in
the plan.
 Hygiene promotion campaign to 500 HHs visits is in the
plan.
 2600 NFI kits is in the plan.
 Distribution of 95 sanitation tool kits is planned in
Ceelgaal and Shirkaneeco.
 Rehabilitation of 5 shallow wells (One in Ceelgaal and
four in Beledweyne town).
 WASH Committee training planned.

 Key hygiene message radio are ongoing in Beledweyne
town for 3 month
 Hygiene promotion campaign to 17 villages in Beledweyne
are planned
 Water tracking for OTP centers in Beledweyne are
ongoing.
 Distribution of BUR/PNG for water purification is planned.
 Water quality test for 21 water supply wells are ongoing in
Beledweyne hamlets.

 Participants discussed deeply the floods effect and
agreed that there was displacement in some villages
and now returned to their villages so that no one can
estimated the effects of the recently floods in
Beledweyne town.
 CESVI reported that Shinile Breakage of Beledweyne
inflicted damages to the crops and HH assets , they also
reported that river overflow damaged crops, roads,
latrines and caused displacement,

 IR reported that there is no case in AWD/Cholera but
indicated the risk of AWD/Cholera can happen anytime
since the neighbourhood regions M/Shabeele and
L/Shabeele has found the cases of AWD/Cholera, but
floods effect caused malaria in BW town, taking into
account IR distributed 1000 mosquito net.
 CESVI reported to the participants that quick
intervention is ready by CESVI if AWD/Cholera happens,
with treatment like ORS and antibiotics and also they
mentioned that Ambulance is in place.
 In reflect to fragile security upset, slow humanitarian
interventions and other contributing aspect such as
clan clash , members agree authenticity of WASH gap
in all districts of the region. WASH integrated projects
have been implemented in 2014 and 2015 but in one
voice partners agree those projects are insufficient to
WASH gaps in the region.

reported that there is no current supply in stock except
WARDI (Regional Supply Hub) which requested to confirm
the supply in stock and they will include it in the minutes
when the draft is distributed.


