We are looking to hire a Field Services Engineer for our territory based at our headquarters in Allendale, NJ in northern Bergen County. Established in 1933, Control Associates along with its global process automation business partner, Emerson Process Management (parent company of Fisher Controls), specializes in supporting the process control equipment and service needs of the following industries: Air Separation, Biotech, Chemical, Food & Beverage, HVAC, Hydrocarbon Processing, Natural Gas Distribution & Transmission, Oil Refining Pharmaceutical, Power Generation, Pulp & Paper, Water & Wastewater Treatment Our Field Services Engineer for Control Systems will possess an ability to work in a team environment with our Account Managers, Control Systems Engineers, within the Field Services Department to support the control systems and installed base services at both customer sites and in our facility. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform control system and network setups, commissioning, upgrades, and installation. Setup control system workstations, servers and networks. Load control system software for company supplied control systems. Configure Domain Controller networks and security rights. Perform backup and restore procedures. Prepare and perform standardized on-site control system Preventative Maintenance (PM) and System and Device Performance Monitoring visits in accordance with Control Associates Lifecycle Services contractual requirements and factory specifications. Troubleshoot control system hardware and network issues both on and offsite to determine root cause of communication, network operating systems and/or control problems. Perform onsite system diagnostics to determine overall health and performance capability of control systems, control system networks, operating systems and instrumentation. Provide telephone technical support to installed base customers when required. Perform remote diagnostics of control systems and networks to determine root cause of performance problems. Repair, rebuild or replace malfunctioning control system components in accordance with factory specifications as required. Review or develop control strategies, General Design Specifications (GDS), Detailed Design Specifications (DDS) and Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) for customers as required. Assist in integration of third party software and hardware solutions Assist the Project Administrator with planning, scheduling, documentation and invoicing of planned work. Assist other Field Services Department employees with control system staging for factory acceptance testing as needed. Develop and modify control system graphics and database configuration. Prepare Field Service Reports documenting parts repaired or replaced and services performed. Develop and maintain project documentation as required by the customer specifications. Assist Lead Engineers with control system startup and commissioning. Work with Emerson’s Global Service Center (GSC) to keep up to date on new software patches and hot fixes. Assist in the ordering, controlling and managing of control system parts inventory. Perform other Field Services work as needed including, but not limited to, positioner / valve troubleshooting, RTU/SCADA troubleshooting, etc. Provide emergency services after normal working hours as well as weekends and public holidays. Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering with a concentration in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering or electrical engineering. Additional concentration(s) in Computer Science or IT preferred. Strong computer skills required including software programming and writing, hardware troubleshooting, operating systems and networking. Microsoft Certified preferred. Experience with Matlab preferred. Experience working in an industrial process environment is preferred. Candidates must also have the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays to provide emergency services and to be available for on call duty (24 hour / 7 day) as assigned at least one week per month. Travel within our territory is required, travel outside of our territory as needed.
