Culminating Activity
(20% of Overall Mark)
You need to work with a partner on this Culminating Activity; however you will be marked
individually. You will create and plan your business together and you have to decide who is
completing which parts of the assignment. Make sure you divide your work equally according
the marks assigned to each component of the assignment. You need to clearly indicate on your
report and on the rubric which components you completed.
There are two parts to this Culminating Activity – a written report and a presentation.
A. The written report is worth 10% of your overall mark for the year.
It must be double spaced, written in Century Gothic size 10 with page margins of 1inch on
every side. It must be 8 pages long. There will be no extensions for this assignment. Lates are
punishable by a 10% loss in marks.
THE WRITTEN REPORT IS DUE ON MAY 22nd/ 23rd, 2013 (depending on when you have a class)
B. The presentation is also worth 10% of your overall mark for the year and must be 10 minutes
in length, give or take 1 minute. Everyone must submit a “.ppt” version of their PowerPoint by
the first day of presentations. You will drop it off to the appropriate Drop-Off folder on
Northern’s network. I will ONLY allow you to use the PowerPoints that are in my drop off
folder. Lates will be deducted 10%. If you are not there for your presentation you will receive
a zero – there are no alternate dates. If you are ill or away for any excuse, you need to let
me know before or on the day of, prior to 8:30am. If I do not receive any notification prior to
or on the day of your presentation, you receive a zero.
THE PRESENTATION PPT-s ARE ALL DUE ON MAY 22nd/23rd, 2013.
I will provide you with a Sign-Up Sheet for presentation dates. Think long and hard about the
date you ask to present on, because once the schedule is set I will not change it.
PRESENTATIONS WILL RUN FROM MAY 22nd, 2013 TO MAY 31st, 2013.
The following pages are the detailed instructions and rubrics for your Culminating Activity.
There are 4 choices. You only have to choose ONE.

Team chemistry is often glorified in sports. You either win as a team or lose as a team. If you are
a football team owner, assume your team has very good chemistry, however you are lacking in
the wide receiver department, and you have cap space. Terrell Owens– a man commonly
known for being a cancer in the locker room, but who can yearly provide you with outstanding
stats – is available on the free market for minimum NFL wage. Do you go out and sign him?
Explain.
If you are a hockey team owner, replace Terrell Owens with Sean Avery – a man who has
devastated hockey team locker rooms but a man without whom the NY Rangers can’t win.
Avery is available for your team. Imagine this past year he scored 30 goals and had 75 points.
He is available for the league minimum salary. Do you take him? Explain.
