COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This is an introductory course in auditing and in the auditing profession. The objective is to
introduce students to the theory of auditing and to its application in the business world from the
point of view of both internal and external auditors. The course begins with an examination of the
principles and theory that underlie the practice of auditing, and will then review the ethical and
professional responsibilities of auditors. The legal environment within the auditor must practice and
exercise their professional judgement is then studied. The course concludes by an examination of
the nature, extent, and timing of auditing procedures.
