Note: Since EST_RTN (2.13) is a direct path to the ECU ground care must be taken not to introduce ground loops. EST_RTN is not designed to carry any significant current; it is a reference only. It should be open circuit unless the smart coil electronics provides an isolated logic ground reference. Care must also be taken not to introduce noise on EST_RTN. Electrical transients on EST_RTN can cause module upsets. Validation tests included extreme operating temperatures (-40 to 105C), thermal shock, humidity, salt spray, salt fog, immersion, fluid resistance, mechanical shock, vibration, and EMC. It is the responsibility of the application engineer to assure that the application does not exceed the demonstrated capabilities of the unit; vibration or thermal. It may be necessary to perform additional tests to validate the unit in the application. Examples of Acceptable ECU Vibration Profiles 6.2 VIBRATION: 20 Engine mountable and tested to high-performance 18 levels, the ECU has been 16 successfully deployed on Extreme race engine vibration engines having the vibration 14 profiles shown at right: 12 Electrical and mechanical isolation is via a bushing, 10 grommet, and washer, as 8 shown below: 6 4 Production engine vibration 2 0 0 200 400 600 800 1000 1200 1400 1600 1800 2000 Frequency(Hz) 6.3 TRANSIENT POWER SPIKE RESISTANCE: 7 MODELS Module Description PCM03_0311: Development Module PCM03_0309: Production Module PCM03_0312: Development Module PCM03_0310: Production Module 8 ORDERING INFORMATION 8.1 DEVELOPMENT MODULES 8.2 PRODUCTION MODULES +/- 200 VDC Available Resources AN1M...AN19M, DG1, DG2, DG4, STOP, CNK+, CNK-, CNK_DG, CAM_DG, EK0P, EK0N, EK1P, EK1N, XDRP, XDRP_B, MPRD, TACH, FI1D...FI6D, AI1D...AI6D, EST1...EST8,HSOL1...HSOL4, FUELP, OILP, START, ECUP, DRVP, DRVG, XDRG, EST_RTN, CAN1, CAN2, SCL AN1M...AN15M, DG1, DG2, DG4, STOP, CNK+, CNK-, CNK_DG, CAM_DG, O2A, O2B, EK0P, EK0N, EK1P, EK1N, XDRP, XDRP_B, MPRD, TACH, FI1D...FI6D, AI1D...AI6D, EST1...EST8,HSOL1...HSOL4, FUELP, OILP, START, ECUP, DRVP, DRVG, XDRG, EST_RTN, CAN1, CAN2, SCL MotoTron Sales: (734)822-7700 MotoTron Sales: (734)822-7700 Page 19 of 19
