MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO CULTURAL CONTRIBUTION SCHOLARSHIP [e-m]
MSU understands and appreciates the unique perspective that international students bring to the
classroom and value their presence within the campus and local communities. Located in
Southern Minnesota, an hour and half by car from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Mankato offers a safe,
welcoming environment with a low cost of living and an abundance of student-friendly housing.
All new international undergraduate students are automatically awarded the Cultural
Contribution Scholarship, allowing them to pay tuition at resident rates. Students automatically qualify
for the scholarship their first semester and can maintain it by sustaining a 2.5 GPA and completing 25
volunteer “cultural contribution” hours each semester. Additionally, undergraduate students can take
12-18 credits for the same banded tuition cost. Further details on the Cultural Contribution Scholarship

International Studies and Programs at the University of Nebraska at
Omaha (UNO) awards two scholarships to academically talented students from around the world.
UNO Advantage Scholarships allow recipients to pay resident tuition rates, which typically reduces
tuition charges by about 65%. Scholarships are worth $6,600 to $8,500 per year and are
renewable annually with good academic progress. New International Student Scholarships are
worth $6000 per academic year and are not renewable. Partial grants of $3,000 are sometimes

MARCH 15 PRIORITY SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE - ST. CATHERINE UNIVERSITY [E-M]
The priority deadline for female, bachelor's level international student scholarship
applications is March 15, 2013 for entry in the August semester. We do grant
scholarships to students who apply after March 15, but those scholarships are generally
smaller.
The largest scholarship is approximately $18,500 per year. There are also on-campus jobs valued at
$2,500. The remaining expenses could be as low as $21,000 per year for students who receive one of
the highest scholarships. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and financial need.

SUNY PLATTSBURGH MERIT- AND NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID [WU#313]
SUNY Plattsburgh has been providing financial aid to international
undergraduates for more than a decade. The result has been exceptional
global diversity on campus and more than a thousand successful alumni worldwide.
Plattsburgh currently enrolls approximately 350 international undergraduates from more than 60
countries.
International student financial aid awards are based on academic merit, country of residence, and
financial need. The average award for 2013-2014 is expected to be approximately $6,200,
increased from an average of $4,500 in 2012-2013. The minimum award package for 2013-2014 is
$2,500 and the maximum is $10,500. The estimated billed cost of attendance (including tuition,

SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY DEVELOPS “LEGAL ENGLISH” COURSE [WU#311]
Syracuse University (SU) College of Law, in partnership with SU’s English
Language Institute, will be offering a “Legal English” course during the 2013
Summer session. This course is available to international students enrolled in
the College of Law’s Master of Laws (LL.M.) in American Law.
The “Legal English” course comprises three components designed to provide a foundation in
legal terminology and language usage in various areas (listening, speaking, reading, legal research,
and writing) for nonnative speakers of English who intend to earn an LL.M. degree in the United States.
All components include group and pair work as well as individual assignments. The course
provides 25 instructional hours per week.

MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY AND BROOKDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE OFFER SUMMER ENGLISH PROGRAM [WU#310]
Monmouth University and Brookdale Community college are pleased to
offer a 12 credit, pre-academic Summer ESL program. This program is
available for students who wish to enroll at Monmouth University but who need to improve
language skills in order to meet Monmouth's English proficiency requirement.
Monmouth University and Brookdale Community College are located in a safe suburban
neighborhood near the Atlantic Ocean and close to New York and Philadelphia. The combined
resources of both institutions give students a unique opportunity to realize their academic goals.
The ESL program will run from June 22 to August 16, 2013. Students will live on the Monmouth
campus and classes will be taught by Brookdale faculty. Students must apply using the Monmouth
University application and must submit the required documents by Feb 15, 2013.
Applicants meeting this deadline will be notified of their admission decision by April 1, 2013.
Conditional admission will be offered to those who meet the admission standards for their intended
degree program but whose English proficiency scores are between a 70 and 79 on the TOEFL IBT
or a 5.5 and 6 on the IELTS exam.
