2012 Sponsorship Opportunities Introduction The Hanover Ag Society is an incorporated, non profit organization run by volunteers that exists to provide opportunity to educate, promote, and celebrate agriculture and rural living. We are based in Grunthal, Manitoba, and in the Rural Municipality of Hanover. Grunthal and the RM of Hanover were born as agricultural centers, and continue to be, although farming practises have changed and the economics and business of agriculture and its spin-offs are dominant. But the people that live here do so seeking a quieter, more peaceful life than can be found in the city. There is a strong connection to family, to heritage, to tradition, and relationship. Young families and immigration have given us one of the lowest average ages in all of Canada. The Municipality has a population of approximately 12,000 and surrounds the city of Steinbach and the town of Niverville. The RM boasts one of the fastest growth rates of all of Canada and the second lowest average age of 27.4 years according to 2006 census data. The Main Event The Hanover Ag Fair is held the 3rd weekend of August 16-19, 2012, and attracts 10,000+ people over 4 days. The fair has woven itself into the fabric of country life in South-eastern Manitoba over the last 66 years. With just the right blend of entertainment, activities, and attractions, people from all over come to Grunthal in the RM of Hanover to celebrate real country life. Whether they are rodeo riders, or urban cowboys, the MRCA/CCA dual sanctioned semi-professional rodeo, and the home-grown, grassroots Ranch Rodeo is pure entertainment for all ages. The diverse range of entertainment that runs all weekend on the Main stage appeals to the tastes of the varied demographics of the rural population. The local groups and artists that are featured draw their loyal fans and win over new ones. The weekend is filled with many other activities and attractions including car shows, petting zoos, interactive games and rides, parade, barbecues representing all agricultural sectors as well as traditional area food, agricultural demonstrations and displays, blending a mix of the new technologies and developments with the traditional tried and true methods that helped build and settle our area. The whole weekend is capped off with a finale of fireworks unrivalled by any festival in southern Manitoba. The Growing Event The Hanover Ag Society has taken on a second event, May 18-21, 2012, to promote youth involvement in rodeo. This is our second year hosting a Manitoba High School Rodeo Association sanctioned event on May long weekend. New this year is the addition of a rough stock school. Join us in promoting youth sport.
