COURSE DESCRIPTION :
An introductory course on the history and culture of the Filipino people. It is designed to give students basic
knowledge about the Philippines’ past and cultural heritage. The course combines the chronological and topical
approaches. Thus, the major historic periods are treated in sequential order. Within each major historic period, the
discussion will proceed according to the topic.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES :
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Analyze the cultural heritage of the Filipino people;
2. Conceptualize the history of the Filipino people;
3. Integrate a deep sense of responsive citizenship; and
4. Demonstrate nationalism and love of resources.

d. Case Study/Group Project – students are required either to examine social and political institutions that influence
events in the country, or analyze present day events that bear some resemblance to historical facts tackling similar
issues.
