Dear Parents and Guardians of A.P. Psychology students,
The time of year students have awaited is finally arriving – A.P. testing! On Monday, May 6,
2013, your son/daughter will take the Advanced Placement Psychology test for which he/she has been
preparing since Honors Psychology last school year. I am writing to inform you of practice test and
review sessions that will be happening in the weeks remaining before the A.P. test.
\
In a few short weeks, we will conclude our last of fourteen units, “Social Psychology.” All
remaining class time, during the weeks leading up to the A.P. exam will be designated strictly for test
review. Students have received A.P. Exam Review packets, which include all of the terms, concepts, and
people that we have covered throughout the course, and which are subject to testing.
In addition to in-class review, I will also be holding a series of review and practice test sessions at
CHS during Spring Break and after school. Practice A.P. Test sessions will be held at two different times,
to accommodate students’ extracurricular, work, and/or family obligations. Students are highly
encouraged to attend the test session; the practice and review will be invaluable for their confidence, and
will aid them in organizing the vast amount of information needed to perform well on the exam.
Please see the attached schedule of A.P. Psychology practice test sessions, and discuss with
your son or daughter which review sessions they would prefer to attend. Students should attend one of
the practice test sessions. Your son/daughter will then take an authentic A.P. Psychology exam (2004
released version), which will be timed to match the A.P. exam. Students’ practice test scores will be
reviewed in class during the week of April 22, 2013.
Teacher Assistant, senior Rachel Drucker, will also be holding two review sessions throughout
April. Rachel took A.P. Psychology last year, and was very successful in the course and on the A.P. test.
It is suggested that students meet with Rachel to review course content, as well as discuss strategies for
preparing for the test. Information on the date, time, and location of the review sessions with Rachel is to
follow. Students’ attendance is highly recommended.
Our students have worked very hard throughout Psychology/A.P. Psychology, grappling with a
variety of new ideas and concepts, writing practice essays, and engaging in a variety of discussions in
class. As the A.P. Exam quickly approaches, it is my goal that students are fully prepared, and will score
highly, enabling them to receive credit for introductory level Psychology at their chosen colleges and
universities. Please discuss the importance of these review sessions with your son or daughter, and
indicate, on the attached sheet, which practice test session he or she would like to attend. Please feel
free to contact me with any questions or concerns!
Sincerely,
Philip S. McCormick
