Multiplying and Dividing
Fractions and Mixed Numbers Card Set
Common Core State Standards
This card set helps students practice multiplying and dividing, fractions and mixed numbers.
Once students have mastered these skills, then they should apply them to word problem
format as mentioned in the standards.
•
5.NF.4 Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction
or whole number by a fraction.
•
5.NF.6 Solve real world problems involving multiplication of fractions and mixed
numbers.
•
6.NS.1 Interpret and compute quotients of fractions, and solve word problems involving
division of fractions by fractions. (Even though this standard does not mention dividing
mixed numbers I have included them because my State Ed dept said if they can multiply
mixed numbers in 5th grade, they should be able to divide mixed numbers in 6th grade.)

These cards can be used two ways.
•
Task cards: Only copy the questions. Cut them out. Students tackle one problem at a
time and work at their own pace. They feel a sense of accomplishment after each
problem has been completed. They do not have to complete all the problems.
• Game Cards/Flash Cards: Copy the questions and answers front to back on the
copier. Cut the cards apart. Students can work independently. Great for a test review.
