CleanTech Park e-bulletin JAN–MAR 2015 ISSUE GRAND OPENING OF JTC CLEANTECH TWO @ CLEANTECH PARK AND A*STAR ADVANCED REMANUFACTURING AND TECHNOLOGY CENTRE (ARTC) JTC CleanTech Two and A*STAR ARTC were officially opened on 28 January 2015 by Guest-of-Honour Mr S Iswaran, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade & Industry. CleanTech Two and ARTC will strengthen Singapore’s capabilities in R&D and innovation. ARTC, the anchor tenant of CleanTech Two, is a collaborative research platform between A*STAR, NTU and over 29 local and global industry partners, such as Rolls-Royce and Singapore Aero Engine Services, as well as 12 local SMEs. “ARTC will be a game-changer for the remanufacturing sector in Singapore. It seeks to develop capabilities which will help companies in the aerospace, oil and gas, energy and automotive industries tackle the challenges of high component costs through remanufacturing”, said Minister Iswaran. CleanTech Two will offer 22,000 sqm of specially designed laboratory and office space to seed R&D activities in new growth areas in remanufacturing technolgies. It will grow CleanTech Park (CTP) into an epicentre for R&D and serve as a ‘living laboratory’ to support the test-bedding of innovative sustainable manufacturing solutions. Besides ARTC, other tenants of CleanTech Two such as IHI Asia Pacific, Johnson Mattey, Spirax Sarco are also now part of the CTP eco-system. CONGRATULATIONS TO ERI@N FOR ACHIEVING THE GREEN MARK PLATINUM AWARD FOR OFFICE INTERIOR Introduced in 2009, the Green Mark for Office Interior certification is an initiative to promote and recognise energy efficient features and environmentally friendly practices for office interiors. ERI@N was awarded the Platinum rating for their offices at units #06-04 and #06-09 of JTC CleanTech One on 28 January 2015 under the Building & Construction Authority’s Green Mark for Office Interior certification scheme. Some of its energy efficient features include the installation of radiant chilled ceiling system, and the reduction of lighting power density through delamping exisiting ambient lighting, and the addition of task lighting and lighting sensors. The radiant chilled ceiling system has resulted in an overall energy savings of 30.5% while the latter has resulted in a 38% improvement in the lighting power budget. Delamping ERI@N has also established a Green Committee to conduct staff education programmes and oversee the whole sustainability efforts within the organisation. They were also awarded the Eco Office label certification by the Singapore Environmental Council and City Development Group in recognition of their efforts towards office environmental responsibility. About Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) Officially opened in June 2010, ERI@N aims to be a leading research institute for innovative energy solutions. ERI@N’s mission is to be a centre-of-excellence for advanced research, development, and demonstration of innovative energy solutions with global impact. It aims to achieve this by conducting research to enhance the efficiency of energy systems. For more information about ERI@N, please refer to http://erian.ntu.edu.sg.
