RETIRED MEN'S ASSOCIATION OF GREENWICH, Inc. (RMA) invites you to attend its meeting, on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. First Presbyterian Church, Lafayette Pl., Greenwich. Dr. Marshall Urist and Fred E. Gatti of Morgan Stanley LATEST ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY, WHAT THE FUTURE WILL BRING,AND THE COMPANIES WHO WILL GET US THERE After remaining constant for more than a decade, biotechnology stocks have become investor favorites, rising by 110% over the past two years, as investors are once again becoming more willing to reward R&D. Once upon a time, R&D focused on chemicals that led to blockbuster drugs like Lipitor and Plavix. By the late 1990’s the focus had shifted to genomics and the study of encoded genetic instructions. Ten years ago, the human genome (the entirety of an organism’s hereditary information) could barely be decoded. A decade later, these endeavors are starting to pay off in the treatment of everything from cancer to autoimmune disorders. Dr. Marshall Urist, Executive Director/Analyst at Morgan Stanley, covering the biotechnology industry, will discuss current and likely future biotechnology trends, and how they will affect our lives now and in the coming years. He will provide an update on the current state of biotechnology companies, as well as insights into the future of the industry, and the companies that are likely to lead the way in this field. Dr. Urist joined Morgan Stanley in 2007. From 2008-2012 he transitioned to the Life Science Tools and Diagnostics industry, where he was recognized in the Institutional Investor All America Research Poll. He graduated from John Hopkins University, and holds an M.D. and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Columbia University. Fred Gatti is a Financial Advisor and member of the Trischman Group at Morgan Stanley in Greenwich, managing and advising over $1.2 billion in assets. The Group focuses on the spectrum of complex wealth issues (portfolio management, estate planning, philanthropy, investment banking) that face high-networth individuals, businesses and retirees. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, and earned an M.B.A. in Finance from Fordham University. RMA meetings are free and open to the public; no reservations are required.
