The mission of Minerva Senior Studies Institute is
to provide learning opportunities for adults 50 plus
by developing, sponsoring, promoting, offering
and participating in educational activities designed
to enhance seniors’ intellectual pursuits that enrich their lives. At Minerva we believe in learning for a
lifetime.

Laurie Allen Awards
At Minerva we are pleased to offer the Laurie
Allen Award for writing. This award is given to
students in every writing class offered at Minerva
who demonstrate outstanding talents. Our newest

Seniors make a difference in our community whether it is

launch will be held at the Westend Seniors Activity Centre.

buttons, connect to the Wifi network,
work with basic apps and much more.

an author, parliamentarian

specialized throughout his 35 year career in peace and
human security issues. Mr. Roche has been a Senator,
Member of Parliament, Canadian Ambassador for
Disarmament and Visiting Professor at the University of
Alberta. He is also the author of 20 books and holds 8
honourary doctorates as well as receiving numerous
awards for his work for peace.

WALK-ABOUT SERIES
Walk-Abouts offer a perfect opportunity for active adults to exercise mind and body. The amount of walking varies.
Some take place out-of-doors, some are indoors, while others offer a combination. Participants should have good
walking shoes and comfortable clothing. If weather conditions require the cancellation of an outdoor Walk-About,
participants will be notified prior to start time. All Walk-Abouts begin promptly at designated times and locations.

Walk About: St. Josephat Cathedral

Join us as we visit St. Josephat Cathedral which serves
as the central church for the Ukrainian Catholic
Eparchy of Edmonton. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic
Church is an autonomous Particular Church with the
Catholic Church. It is the Catholic descendent of the
Church of Kyiv, born of the Church of Constantinople

Walk About: St. Joseph’s Basilica

Join us as we visit St. Joseph’s Cathedral Basilica. The basilica is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic
Archdiocese of Edmonton and is one of the largest
churches in Edmonton. Of architectural note are the 60
stained glass windows depicting scenes from the Old and
New Testaments. Building began in 1913 and was finally
completed and the building officially opened on May 1,
1963 the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker.

For Workshops/Seminars/Short Courses 4 weeks or less in length.
100% refund, minus a $20 administrative withdrawal fee per course, for
courses dropped 5 calendar days before the first scheduled class. No
refund is available after the deadline date.

a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
In Person: At Minerva at Alberta College Campus Room 628
or the Office of the University Registrar at City Centre Campus.
Cancellations: Minerva reserves the right to cancel any
programs for insufficient enrolment. In the event of
cancellation all participants will receive a full refund.
For courses more than 4 weeks in length.
