Degree-Seeking Transfer Students
Anapplicant transferringfromanother college(non-Purduecampus) must
submit thefollowingitems:
Completedapplicationfor admission. (anon-refundable$55 applicationfee

Official highschool transcriptand/or, GED scores*, notrequiredif applicanthas
obtain24transferablecredithoursfromaregionallyaccreditedinstitution.

Domesticstudentswithtranscriptsfrominternational institutionsmustsubmit

Transfer Student Admission Criteria
1) Theapplicant must submit official collegetranscriptsshowingat least
15 semester or semester-equivalent hoursof collegelevel workcompleted
withaC- or better.
2) Theapplicant must havesuccessfully completedCollegeCompositionI
(ENGL10400) at aregionallyaccreditedinstitutionof higher education; and
3) Theapplicant must haveearnedacumulativegradepoint averageof
2.0 or abovefromthelast institutionattended.
Particular programs may require specific cumulative grade point averages for admission and/or
additional successfully completed transfer courses for Transfer Student Admission.
Transfer credit is established through these procedures:
1. Applicantswhohaveattendedanother collegeor universityandhave
non-Purduecourse-workmust submit anofficial transcript(s).
2. PurdueUniversityCalumet acceptscredit fromregionallyaccreditedinstitutionsfor collegelevel classesinwhichthestudent hasreceivedagrade
of C- or better. Theuniversityreservestheright todeterminethe
transferabilityandacceptanceof transfer credit.
3. Courseequivalenciesaredeterminedbyrespectiveacademicdepartments
(e.g. mathcourseequivalenciesaredeterminedbythetheDepartment of
Mathematics, Computer ScienceandStatistics)
4. Transfer courseswill beevaluatedbyanAcademicAdvisor onanindividual

Advanced Credit and Advanced Placement
STUDENT INFORMATION
Advancedcredit meansthat theuniversitygrantscredit basedonother outside
academicworkandrecordsit onthestudent’srecord.
Advancedplacementmeansthatastudentisplacedinanadvancedlevel course
but maynot haveearnedcredit towardadegreefor anyprior courses. TheOfficeof
Admissionsevaluatesrequestsfor advancedcredit andadvancedplacement.
There are six ways for a student to establish advanced credit or advanced placement:
1. Departmental/College Credit by Exam. Anindividual college/departmentmay
establishanexaminationproceduretoestablishadvancedcredit. Students
shouldconsultwiththecollege/departmentheadoracademicadvisorfordetails.
2. Departmental/College Credit without Exam maybeawardedonthebasisofsubstantiallyequivalentexperienceorsuccessfulcompletionofamoreadvancedcourse.Students
shouldconsultwiththecollege/departmentheadoracademicadvisorfordetails.
3. Departmental/College Credit in Mathematics, Computer Science, and
Statistics. Studentsmaysubmit anapplicationtothecollege/department for
credit inbasicmathematicscoursesnumbered13500 or aboveonlyif:
thebasiccoursesatisfiesthemathematicsrequirement for thestudent’s
curriculum;
thestudent iscurrentlytakingor hascompletedasubsequent coursein
thenormal sequenceof mathcoursesinthecollege/department; and
thestudent hasnever receivedagradeother thanWinthebasiccourse.
4. College-Level Examination Program (CLEP). CLEPexamsevaluatenontraditional college-level education, suchasindependentstudy, correspondence
work, orcreditearnedatanon-regionallyaccreditedinstitution. PurdueCalumet
mayacceptCLEPcreditif thestudentcompletesthesubjectmatterexaminations
andsendstheofficial scorereportwiththequalifyingexamandscoretotheOffice

NBS/FACTS Payment Plan
PurdueUniversityCalumet ispleasedtooffer theNBS/FACTS tuitionpayment
plantoenableyoutomoreeasilyaffordyour educational expenses. NBS/FACTS is
atuitionmanagement planthat providesyouwithalowcost planfor budgeting
tuitionandother educational expenses. It isnot aloanprogram; therefore, interest
andfinancechargesarenot assessed, nor isacredit checkrequired.
TheNBS/FACTS payment planisaconvenient andinexpensivewayfor you
tomakeyour payments. Your tuitionpayment canbemadebyAutomaticBank
Payment (ACH) fromyour checkingor savingsaccount or bycredit card(Visa,
MasterCardor AmericanExpress).

Financial Aid Warning Status – Studentsfailingtomeet Satisfactory

financial aid. Students who fail to achieve the Quantitative and/or Qualitative component(s) of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy during
their Warning period lose their eligibility for federal aid. A student shall

if he/sheachievestherequiredSatisfactoryAcademicProgressQualitativeand
Quantitativestandards.

Registration for Classes
Therearethreeregistrationperiodsfor thefall, spring, andsummer sessions.
PRIORITYREGISTRATION: allowsstudentsanopportunitytopre-register inorder
toenroll inthecoursestheyneed.
OPEN REGISTRATION: for studentsunabletoregister earlyandfor studentswho
mayneedtoadjust their schedules.
LATE REGISTRATION: heldduringthefirstweekof classes(special schedulefor
summer) andtoallowstudentstomakesectionandclasschanges. A penaltyfeeis
chargedtostudentswhoenroll duringthisperiod. (Seep. 16 forlateregistrationfees.)
Adding Courses
Studentsmayaddcoursesduringthefirst four weeksof thesemester by
submittingacompletedadd/dropcardtotheOfficeof theRegistrar. The
signaturesof boththeacademicadvisor andinstructor of theclassbeingadded
arerequiredduringthesecond, third, andfourthweeksof thesemester. Student
Athletesmust contact theAthleticDepartment inorder toprocesschangestotheir
semester schedule. Signaturesarerequiredfor thesechanges.
Dropping Courses
Studentsmaywithdrawfromcoursesbysubmittinganadd/dropcardtothe
Officeof theRegistrar.
Thetimeperiodinwhichastudent withdrawsfromacoursedeterminesthe
recordingof thecourseonthestudent’stranscript. Thefollowingguidelinesapply
tothesixteenweekFall andSpringsemestersonly. AcceleratedtermandSummer
termrefundschedulesarecalculatedbaseduponamodifiedschedule.

Attendance
Failure to attenddoes not constitute an official withdrawal from a course.
Studentsareexpectedtobepresent for everymeetingof aclassinwhichthey
areenrolled. At thebeginningof eachsemester, instructorsareresponsiblefor
clarifyingtheir policyfor handlingclassabsencesandtheimpact absenceswill
haveinthedeterminationof coursegrades.
Studentswithloansmakingachangeinenrollment mayrevisetheir financial
aidaward. Thestudent shouldnotifytheOfficeof Financial Aidimmediatelyif
thereisachangeinenrollment.
A student maybeadministrativelywithdrawnfromacoursefor excessive
absencesuponrecommendationof theinstructor. A gradeof Wwill beassigned.
