Meet the Speakers
MCA Consulting, LLC
Michael P. Arther – Michael is the owner of MCA Consulting, LLC. which concentrates on assessing and directing long
term care clients with issues involving OSHA Regulatory Compliance, Occupational Injury/Illness Management, Workers
Compensation Administration, and the Life Safety Code Inspection Process. Utilizing vast experiences as a degreed
occupational safety and health professional, licensed nursing home Administrator, and acting as a private consultant for
multiple nursing home groups throughout the Southeast, Michael applies practical knowledge and experience to the
consulting process while assisting clients with federal and state regulatory compliance requirements as well as their
occupational risk management programs. MCA provides a broad range of services for the long term care industry, from
single visit compliance assistance to comprehensive program development, implementation, training, even total program
management. MCA actively participates in industry network groups of safety and health professionals as well as legal
experts throughout the U.S. to best prepare clients with the most up to date regulatory and inspection trends in the
healthcare industry.
Alabama Nursing Home Association
Katrina G. Magdon – BSBA, MPA, CAE – Katrina currently serves as the Director of Professional Development and
Regulatory Affairs for the Alabama Nursing Home Association and the Executive Secretary of the Alabama Board of
Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators. She has over 28 years of experience in working with the health care
industry. She is the staff liaison for the ANHA Defense Lawyers Association, ANHA Facility Standards/Quality
Assurance committee, ANHA Payment for Services committee, ANHA Legal committee, ANHA Life Safety and
Physical Plant committee, and the ANHA Assisted Living/Certification committee. Katrina currently serves as the
Chairman for the National Association of Board of Examiners for Long Term Care Administrators Professional Practice
Act Exam Resource Task Force and has been an item writer for the National Nursing Home Administrators Examination
for the past 25 years. Mrs. Magdon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public
Administration from Auburn University – Montgomery. In 2012, Mrs. Magdon became a Certified Association
Executive.
Noland Health Services, Inc.
Barbara Estep, Esq. – Barbara is the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Noland Health Services, Inc. Her
responsibilities include risk management, corporate compliance, HIPAA compliance, CON and health planning, and other
legal and regulatory affairs for the organization. Barbara has a Bachelor’s of Science and Health Information
Management, a Masters’ of Science in Health Services Administration, and is licensed to practice law in Alabama.
Barbara has also served as an Instructor for the UAB Health Information Management Program and the taught health law
for the Health Care Management program. Barbara is a member of the Alabama Bar and the American College of
Healthcare Executives. She is a member of the Alabama State Healthcare Coordinating Council (SHCC) and the Health
Care Information and Data Advisory Council.
Gilpin Givhan
Kenny Williamson Keith, Esq. - Kenny is a member of the Health Care practice group. Her practice focuses on
counseling and representing clients on issues involving billing and reimbursement, certificate of need, contracting, health
care liability litigation, medical malpractice defense, nursing home and senior housing, physician practices, privacy and
confidentiality and regulatory compliance. Drawing on past experience as a Registered Nurse, an Associate Professor at
UAB's School of Nursing, and a private consultant on epidemiology and community health nursing, Kenny brings a
wealth of practical knowledge and experience in assisting clients on compliance with federal and state regulatory
requirements, state licensure issues, and general business and contract advice. While attending law school, Kenny won
both the Donworth Freshman Moot Court Competition and the Saad Senior Moot Court Competition. She was also
awarded the Order of the Barrister and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa and Sigma Theta Tau honor
societies. She is a member of Cumberland School of Law Curia Honoris.
