April 2009
With more gas-friendly models than the competition,
we’re leading the way toward a gas-free future.
ELECTRIC
Going electric in 2010.
FUEL EFFICIENCY
Whether you need a car, truck, crossover or SUV,
GM is committed to offering you a fuel-efficient
vehicle that suits your life. It’s fuel economy
for everyone.
• 19 of our 2009 models have an EPA estimated
30 MPG highway or better — more than Toyota,
more than Honda
• GM’s models rank first in EPA estimated highway
fuel economy in both the non-hybrid midsize
sedan and subcompact segments
BIOFUELS
GM is heading the movement to reduce our
dependence on petroleum and expand our use
of biofuels.
• GM offers 18 E85 FlexFuel models in the U.S.
for 2009.3 Our goal is to have 50 percent of our
annual vehicle production E85-capable by 2012
• GM is teaming up with innovative companies
to create cellulosic ethanol from materials
including garbage, agricultural waste
and old tires
- EPA est. 33 MPG highway: Chevy Malibu,
Saturn AURA
- EPA est. 37 MPG highway: Chevy Cobalt XFE,
Pontiac G5 XFE
• GM’s XFE lineup offers Xtra Fuel Economy
on vehicles as diverse as the Chevy Cobalt and
GMC Yukon. And Chevy Silverado XFE has better
fuel economy than Toyota Tundra1
HYBRID
At GM, we’ve been working tirelessly to expand our
hybrid lineup. Today, we offer more hybrid models
than any other manufacturer. Honda can’t beat us
and neither can Toyota.2
•N
ot a traditional electric car,
the Chevy Volt (target launch:
2010) uses zero gasoline and
produces zero emissions for
up to 40 miles of daily driving*
• The Volt’s revolutionary
propulsion system uses
a lithium-ion battery
for electric-only driving.
A gasoline-powered,
range-extending engine drives
a generator that recharges the
battery when driving beyond
the expected 40-mile range
of the battery pack
FUEL CELL
GM’s fuel cell technology uses nature’s
most plentiful resource, hydrogen. It’s a big
step toward realizing the dream of a
zero-emission vehicle.
• Our current test fleet of 100 Chevrolet Equinox
Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (not available for sale)
has already logged a half-million miles. These
vehicles consume zero gasoline and emit only
water vapor
1) Silverado XFE with 5.3L V8 EPA estimated MPG 15 city, 21 highway. Toyota Tundra 2WD with 5.7L V8 EPA estimated MPG 14 city, 18 highway.
2) Based on EPA segmentation and latest available competitive information. 3) E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Visit gm.com/biofuels
to find an E85 station near you.
• People who live within 20 miles
of where they work may never
use a drop of gas on their daily
commute if they plug in their
vehicle for recharging
each night
