Awards presented include: The Lifetime Achievement Award was created to recognize chiropractors that have made continuous contributions to the chiropractic profession throughout their careers. Because the award reflects a lifetime of involvement, it is meant to honor a chiropractor with at least 25 years of professional experience. The Chiropractor of the Year recognizes recent contributions to the chiropractic profession on the local, state or national levels, as well as leadership in community, church and civic functions. The nomination will highlight achievements generally accomplished over the last several years. The Nels Bakke Award honors chiropractors that have been in practice for less than five years. It recognizes the contributions of younger practitioners who have equally dedicated themselves to serving the profession and their community. Wilder, DC, FACO has been a leader in chiropractic for over 25 years. He is Board Certified in Chiropractic Orthopedics, a distinction held by less than one percent of the nation’s chiropractors. Dr. Wilder has served as a leader in state and national chiropractic organizations, and was the President of the 1700-member Wisconsin Chiropractic Association from 1991-1997. Course Description Effective Oct. 1, 2014, all health care providers will be required to report the appropriate diagnostic codes utilizing the new ICD-10 system. Failure to properly report using the new system by the deadline may result in your failure to meet required clinical documentation requirements of the state and federal government, and insurers. The ICD-10 codes will be increasing from approximately 17,000 ICD-9 codes to 140,000 ICD-10 codes. In addition to the sheer numbers of new codes, and an entirely different organizational scheme, chiropractors will be required to learn new skills in recording the causation of the diagnosis, laterality of extremity conditions, and familiarity with European medical terms. Timothy Mick, DC, DACBR, FICC is a chiropractic radiologist providing MRI and X-ray study interpretations for Doctors of Chiropractic. He is a nationally recognized chiropractic radiologist, educator and author. As associate professor, he headed the department of radiology at Northwestern College of Chiropractic (NWCC) in Minnesota for over 17 years and led the development of their Radiological Consultation Services. Dr. Mick was also instrumental in initiating and directing NWCC’s radiology residency program, and providing expertise in diagnostic imaging for Northwestern Health Sciences University’s internationally recognized research department. He lectures to chiropractors, interns, medical doctors on a variety of topics across the U.S. and in Europe and has also served as an expert witness on issues regarding diagnostic imaging. Following graduation from NWCC in 1986, Dr. Mick completed a three-year radiology residency at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and was board-certified in chiropractic radiology in 1989. His training included rounds and conferences at the University of Minnesota, University of Southern California, University of California-San Diego and UCLA-Harbor Medical School. Michelle Mick, DC, DACBR graduated in 2000 from the chiropractic radiology residency program in the UK. She completed her research fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging at the University of San Diego, California. The following year, she became the director of radiology at the Institut Franco-Europeen de Chiropratique (IFEC) in Paris, where she was director of the academic program and also the clinical service for both campuses in Paris and Toulouse.
