Freshman applicants have fewer than 15 college-level credit hours earned. Freshman-Transfer Students are applicants who have less than 15 college-level credit hours. Freshmen-Transfer applicants should follow the Freshman Application procedure and submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities previously attended. How to apply? • Visit www.applytexas.org and complete the admissions application. • Submit official high school transcript with class rank, GPA and High School Curriculum Verification/High School Program. • Request official ACT/SAT scores to be sent directly from the testing agency to the Office of Admissions. *Individual Review: First-time freshmen who do not meet the criteria above may be considered for admission to UHD by way of Individual Review. Each applicant’s file will be reviewed by a committee, and a student may be admitted to UHD or considered for an alternative option. State of Texas Uniform Admission Standards Uniform Admissions Policy, TEC 51.803-51.809 requires that all students must meet one of the following college readiness standards in order to be eligible for consideration for admission to a Texas Four-Year public institution. • Prospective freshman should graduate high school with one of the following diploma types: Distinguished Achievement or Recommended; or • Successfully complete a curriculum that is equivalent in content and rigor to the recommended or advanced (distinguished) high school program at a high school that is exempt from offering such programs; or • Satisfy the following College Readiness Benchmarks on the SAT or ACT assessment: • • SAT: 1500 out of 2400 ACT: 18 English, 21 Reading, 22 Math and 24 Science Students applying for admission should complete the following curriculum: English (four credits) • English I • English II • English III • English IV Math (four credits) • Algebra I • Algebra II • Geometry • An additional math credit Science (four credits) • Biology • Chemistry • Physics • An additional science credit Social Studies (four credits) • U.S. History (one credit) • U.S. Government (one-half credit) • Economics (one-half credit) • World History (one credit) • World Geography (one credit) Foreign Language (two credits in the same language) Fine Arts (one credit) Physical Education (one credit) Speech (one- half credit) • Communication Applications • Professional Communications (CTE) Electives (five and one-half credits) UHD Transfer Admissions Criteria Transfer Admission Criteria Earned Hours of College-Level Credit Minimum Cumulative Transfer GPA* Less than 15 hours Must meet Freshman Admission Requirements 15 or more hours 2.0 Student must be in Good Academic Standing at last institution attended. *For a course taken more than once, the highest grade will be transferred. *Developmental coursework will not count in the transfer GPA and does not transfer for credit. Transfer Students are applicants that have earned 15 or more college-level credits from a regionally accredited school or institution. How to apply? • Visit www.applytexas.org and complete the admissions application. • Submit official transcripts from all colleges/universities previously attended. • Pay non-refundable $35 application fee ($75 late application fee after posted deadline). • Submit proof of Texas Success Initiative (TSI). Exemptions may apply. UHD prefers the use of EDI/SPEEDE transcript submission. However, if this option is not available, official paper transcripts are acceptable as long as they are unopened and bearing the seal of the sending institution. If sending your official transcripts by a 3rd party service such as eSCRIP-SAFE, JST, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment/DocuFide, ADDS/AVOW, etc. please use the UHDETranscripts@uhd.edu email address. PLEASE NOTE: PDF transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing company and directly to the UHDETranscripts@uhd.edu email address to be considered official. If you are unsure as to whether or not your electronic transcripts will be considered official at UHD, please contact the Office of Admissions by phone at 713-221-8522 or via email at uhdadmit@uhd.edu before you request or send your electronic transcripts. * Students not admitted to UHD will have the option to appeal the decision.
