Polish people are great, there is very good and cheap food.

And of course—very good beer!

Hungary

Polish people are nice, this is very nice region.

Uczestnicy programu Sokrates (Kraków)

From 23 to 27 April in our school there was an exchange with students from the Socrates Comenius Project. Students from our school hosted in their houses overseas delegations – the youth from Italy,

Germany, Hungary and Slovenia.

On first day – on Monday – everybody went to a

French lesson, which conducted Mr. Zi ę tarski. After that we showed them our school.

At 11 a.m. in the school assembly started an official welcome. Students prepared a multimedia presentation about Poland, silesia and Tarnowskie Góry and they presented a few funny scenes in different languages.

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. we went sightseeing and visited a monumental mine in Tarnowskie Góry.

We spoke in different languages and we had to share two language groups.

We spent the evening in the pub called “Kurna

Chata”.

On Tuesday at 8 a.m. we left for Wadowice. It took us about two hours to get there. When we arrived, we visited John Paul’s II house. After that we taste the Pop’s favourite cream – cakes.

In the afternoon we went to Cracow, where we saw

Wawel, UJ and Franciszkanska street. After that we went to Cracow square. We spent there about two hours and then we came back to Tarnowskie Góry.

The next day we took part in journalist’s workshops. Journalist of “Gwarek” presented corect methods of editing a newspaper. Everyone had to do a few exercises, for example work out a subject of holidays – then we could see how many ideas we had and for how many ways we can write about it.

These workshops were very useful for us because on the some day we made our own newspaper in which we put articles written by us and our overseas friends.

In the afternoon we had a meeting with our local authorities and we said our good-byes to Slovenia’s delegation.

On Thursday we organized in the school assembly a farewell meeting and we summarized the visit of our guests in our school.

Incertezze

Uncertainties

We start again. We don’t meet all together like last year, but we are an overwhelming force!

We share our opinions, bad feelings, disappointments, joys and a lot of experiences.

We think to be a close group that won’t stop seeing. Anyway, little by little, somebody falls behind.

Disappointments? Lack of motivation? Shattered dreams? Harsh reality?

Lack of will? The fact is that our classmate has preferred to leave us to carry out other plans in our opinion, most likely, she won’t apply herself to studying anymore, since she isn’t a girl that likes studying, but she will concentrate on learning something practical in order to take her own way.

The desire of planning her life by herself, of having a free life, has led her to leave school. Will it be forever?

Holiday parks in Germany

There are many holiday parks in Germany. Some are designed for people doing winter sports, some for racing fans, some for persons that like relaxed holidays and beach life and some for those who like action.

The “Skihalle Neuss” for example is a big indoor ski area with powder snow and temperatures of around –4°C. There are several hills with different kinds of slopes, for example steep slopes with a decline of 28 %. The national ski-teams do their training in

Neuss and the facility is open all year.

The “Tropical Island Resort Berlin-Brandenburg” can be visited in a huge hall of around 8.000 m 2 , where you feel like being on a tropical holiday. You will find sand beaches, lagoons, tropical villages and get a feeling like being in the South Pacific. A big rain forest with more than 20.000 plants adds to the exotic surroundings. This resort offers the possibility to get a massage, to do sports, to visit shows and a lot of cultural events. In the evening the island resort turns to a big stage, where dancers from

Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean and Hawaii present their art.

The “Erlebniswelt am Nürburgring” is a museum, where you can see legendary racing cars and get information on famous race-tracks and the heroes of the racing world. Technical experiments can be done and on a track for go-carts you can take part in real races.

The “Movie Park Germany”, the “Phantasialand” and the

“Heidepark” are the most famous leisure parks of Germany.

In the “Movie Park Germany” everything about the world of film and entertainment is shown. There are stages where special effects are demonstrated and 3-D films are shown. You can learn a lot about the history and the development of the film industry and about what happens backstage.

The “Phantasialand” offers a mix of entertainment, parades and roller coasters. You can watch shows (for example figure skating), where prizes can be won.

Poland has always been a very open country to new music genres.

We listen to different kinds of music – rock, metal, jazz, pop music, hiphop, black metal, gothic rock, funk, alternative music and electronic body music (a music genre that combines elements of industrial music and electronic dance music). Our country is one of the few countries in

Europe where rock and hip hop dominate over pop music.

Poland has also two indigenous styles of popular music: sung poetry and disco polo (but we don’t like it!:-))

Most people in Tarnowskie Góry listen to black metal and rock. But we have a lot of disco too. The most favourite Polish bands are Myslovitz, Pid ż ama Porno, Virgin, Perfect, Hey, Happysad, D ż em, Ira,

T.Love, etc. Of course, we like foreign music too, for example Nirvana,

System of a Down Scorpions, The Calling, Coldplay…

Many young people have bands. They find people who can play or sing and they made a band. But unfortunately they can’t make a CD, because they play for themselves. We think it’s very nice that young people can do something interesting.

Every year, a huge gathering of young Poles meet to celebrate the rock and alternative music in Jarocin or Ż ary. These events often attract more than 250,000 people and are comparable to the gatherings in Woodstock and Roskilde. Other cities organize concerts and festivals too, for example Opole Festival, Sopot Festival, Kazimierz Festival.

In Poland folk music is very popular and the most famous of the state ensembles are Mazowsze and Ś l ą sk, both of which still perform.

A lot of people in Poland like classical music. The best Polish composers of classical music are Frédéric Chopin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Wojciech Kilar, Henryk Miko ł aj Górecki, Krzesimir D ę bski…

In Poland you can found what you like!

Árpád Fejedelem Gimnázium - Pécs

School is established in 1987 as a primary school in a densely new residential district, the school is a relatively well-equipped building with 31 classrooms, a computer room, a gym, 2 sports grounds, a libray and other auxiliaries (school canteen, fitness room, etc.)

The new establishment embarked upon a radical change in 1990: from a traditional primary school with lower and upper primary classes

(ages 6-14) it transformed into a 12-year school with a lower primary section and an 8-year secondary school. This was in tune with the current trend of reforms at the beginning of the 90’s when a number of schools have opted for a new school structure.

The teaching of foreign languages has an important role in our school. Two languages are taught, one for eight years, (English or

German), the other one for four years (Italian, Croatian, German, unserem Institut.

English or other, subject to demand and availability).

The rigorous internal exam system of the school provides the students with exam skills and routines and is also a means for regular feedback on the work that has been done. At the end of every school year the students have exams in different subject matters, which lead them to their final exams and to their entrance exams.

TELLING… A SCHOOL DAY

Dear diary,

It is very late tonight but I couldn't go to bed without telling you something.

Today at school our English teacher made us read a passage and then translate it in our exercise books. I made only few mistakes and I took a "good". But he got confused with the Italian "di corsa " and wrote "in a hurry". Our teacher told him to give up being careless, to make fun of him and to study hard; so he carried on speaking, taking us a "lessons of living" as usual. I like this because he helps us to grow up, meanwhile time goes by quickly.

When I will be older I will be different from my teacher: I will help those that make a lot of mistakes, I won't give homework to my students, I will let my pupils do whatever they want… so school won't be a "stress" anymore, but it will be a place where fun never ends.

Carnival is a very traditional festivity in Germany and is celebrated only in

West Germany. The Rhineland is especially known for this unusual festivity.

Its official start is on the 11 th of November at 11.11 and in Feburary the really big party gets started, beginning on a Thursday with the "women's carnival". Here in our region around Cologne the carnival is also called

“Fasteloovend”. All “Karnevalsjecken “ (the crazy people who celebrate this big party) are dressed up, for example like animals, people from different professions or figures from fairy tales. This is the most colorful time in the whole year, the streets are full of people in a good mood. Every day in villages and city districts different groups celebrate with big parades, e.g. groups of schoolchildren, groups from the kindergarten, football associations etc. Every group has its own special costumes and throws sweets around which are called "Kamelle". The whole year many children are looking forward to this special, colorful event. For elder people there are many different celebrations, too, and they are also in a very good mood. If you now have the wish to join this big party, come next February to Germany! Everybody is welcome!

The history of Unicum

First time UNICUM was made for Joseph II., the emperor of Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy as a medicine for stomach-ache in 1790. It was made from many different herbs by Dr. Zwack, the doctor of the emperor’s family.

UNICUM had existed for 50 years when the Zwack Company was established in Budapest in

1840. In the best years of the company it made more than 200 different drinks.

Zwack family was the greatest alcoholic-drink destillator in Middle-Europe.

The name of the drink was UNICUM of course and it became the most popular Hungarian drink and was sold in many foreign countries. Nowadays, the fifth generation runs the Zwack Company.

Under the communism the Zwack Company got into state ownership. Zwack family had to leave the country. The state continued making Unicum but the taste wasn’t the same because when the

Zwacks left the country they took the secret recipe with themselves. Howewer, the Budapest

Liqueur Company sold about 3 milion litres of Unicum every year in the 1960’s.

The Zwacks started another company which was not in Hungary but in Italy and they also made

Unicum. In the first year they sold 50 thousand bottles and after some years they sold 1 million bottles a year.

After the fall of the communist regime, Peter Zwack thought that Unicum is a Hungarian drink, and it has to be made in Hungary, so he came back to the UNICUM’s home country on 10 July

1989. The company was named the Zwack Unicum Budapest Ltd.

After starting the export of UNICUM the company is getting bigger and bigger every year. Now,

Unicum is well-known in the most counries and Hungary is very proud of its famous product.

Made by Turcsi Péter

ZWACK UNICUM

„Das ist ein UNIKUM". These were the words of the emperor Joseph II after he had tasted the drink for the first time to the Zwack ancestor who, as a court physician, invented this extraordinary drink in 1790. This statement gave the drink its present name, which perhaps says all that needs to be said about it. Unicum, one of the most popular Hungarian spirit brands, has for over 200 years represented premium quality, a characteristic aroma, unique presentation and

Hungarian tradition. The name Zwack guarantees all of this.

And what is Unicum? Its exact composition cannot be revealed because the recipe is a secret...

What may be disclosed, however, is that Unicum is a skilful blend of more than 40 carefully selected herbs and spices. The lengthy ageing process which takes place over 6 months in oak casks gives Unicum its inimitable bitter-sweet flavour and exotic bouquet. Unicum makes a perfect aperitif or dessert drink due to its beneficial and soothing effect on the stomach.

There are many open-air festivals in Germany which will satisfy any musical taste from rock & pop to reggae and electronic music. “Rock am Ring” ist the biggest of those festivals. The charge for admission is very high. For 3 days you have to pay an average of 110 Euros. For this price, however, you will get a lot of action. The bands on stage are very famous and successful. In the year 2005for example Green Day, Marilyn Manson and the famous German punk band Die Toten Hosen presented their art.

For the year 2006 the following bands have already confirmed to play on “Rock am Ring”: Metallica, Guns N’Roses and Korn.

The festival usually takes place on Whitsuntide; 2006 it will be hold from the June, 2 nd till June, 4 th .

This festival’s location is in the countryside in a region called the Eifel near a well known race-track (Formula One) called

“Nürburgring”. At this festival usually rock music is played.

There are a few alternative groups like Jamiroquai, Melly Fortado and Ramon, too.

If these facts don’t convince you or if this is not your favourite music you can visit other festivals in Germany. If you like reggae and hip-hop the “Summer Jam” festival near Cologne will be the right thing for you. The biggest festival in Northern Germany is

“Hurricane”, where pop bands and a few rock bands can be experienced. And for the fans of electronic music festivals like

“Ruhr in Love”, “Electric City” or “Nature One” will be the right choice. The biggest of those festivals of electronic music is

“Nature One”. Last year there were more than 48.000 visitors who listened and danced to the music of over 300 DJs and live acts. As you see you will be absolutely at the right place in Germany if you like music and festivals.

In Poland a few weeks before wedding everyone buy new clothes and prepare to wedding. Bride and groom are very busy, they have to arrange very important things.

When the wedding day is coming everything must be finished.

In central Poland ceremony starts about 5 – 6 p.m. This is very beautiful event. Church is decorate in flowers and other unusual things. Bride is wearing long white dress with veil. She must wear something blue, new and borrow. Groom is wearing suit. Guests are wear smartly of course.

After ceremony everybody have to give wishes and flowers for couple.

Before wedding bride has a hen party and groom has a stag party. This is last time when they have a good time before wedding. After wedding they have a good fun too, but not exactly the same!

Guests have to buy a presents for married couple, they have to take an envelope with money to give it on a wedding reception after taking veil away.

Food have to be special. Everybody eat different kind of dishes. Of course, in reception must be something to drink. Guests must drink a toast to married couple.

Wedding reception finish about 4 – 5 a.m. In reception must be a great orchestra! The band play nice music: older and younger songs for everybody. Everyone have a good time. About 10 p.m. must be a taking veil away. Misses made round and bride come to this round. Everybody move with music and after some time bride throw veil and the same thing happen with groom’s tie. This person who catch this things have to dance together.

In Poland needn’t make a speeches like UK.

A „Jugend und Media” – „Youth an media” elnevezés ű Európai Uniós projekt keretében tettünk látogatást a szlovéniai Ptuj fest ő i kisvárosában december közepén.

A hosszú, fárasztó autóút után a ptuj-i gimnáziumban kellemes légkör

ódon hangulatú, keskeny utcácskák is.

A projektre készített bemutatónkat általános tetszés fogadta.

LONELY NARCISSIST IN THE GLOBAL SOCIETY

We thought that the advent of mass-media only could effect social and cultural massification. Today, on the contrary, just the media encourage diversification and individualization processes. An example? All young people practise sports, but it is difficult to find someone who practises the same sport activity in the same group of friends.

All wish to be protagonists in our small… small garden. So I practise tennis… you… ping-pong, She… cross-country ski, her sister…downhill skiing.

All are the narcissistic champions of a team made up of…only one athlete. Moreover the more societies become democratic, the more it seems that different forms of media exploitation prevail: there are young people who let themselves sleep in front of TV; there are ones who live surfing on internet and others who have varied their sharing and exploiting media in a such way that they have gone beyond any massification.

These signals therefore go towards a society of mass freedom through the various individualisms. In short the more society is global the more smallness sounds interesting and nice, on condition that it is exclusive and unique.

All wear jeans, but I prefer the hand-painted ones, you… the ones with the…pajettes sewn on the front side, she… the ones with words on the back side…

So in the global society all the young people wear jeans, but each one puts on his/her exclusive, unique and unrepeatable jean. So…all read what they love reading, that is each of us reads his/her own “boobs”.

My readings have nothing to do with the ones which amuse my best friend or with the ones which my room neighbour or my multi-media room friend enjoys. In conclusion, we are all together, terribly more and more alone looking at ourselves in our mirror of stagnant water.

Poland is a country which lies in the centre of

Europe. It’s not well known by foreigners, although it is a really good place to spend your holidays or even settle here. I would like to introduce to you some symbols of my country, which I would split into four main groups: places, national symbols, famous people, culture and nature.

The national symbols of Poland are: a red-white flag, a white eagle with a gold crown on its head, and “Mazurek D ą browskiego” which is our national anthem. The history of Poland is very interesting and has lots of turning points. There are the times of greatness and times of fall. That makes Polish culture quite complex. When you have the chance to visit Poland you should visit such places as: Warsaw -the capital of Poland and Krakow which is said to be the most beautiful city in our country. You can find there many historical buildings and other relics o f t h e p a s t .

Many great people were born in Poland. One of them, who is also well known in the USA, is Tadeusz Kosciuszko. He is a national hero of Poles and Americans. Many famous scientists also come from Poland. The most famous are: Maria Sk ł odowska-Curie who discovered polonium and radium and Nicolaus Copernicus - developer of the heliocentric theory.

Nowadays Poland has its heroes too. They’re worldwide known sportsmen like Adam Malysz – a ski jumper, Robert Korzeniowski – a walker. There are also Nobel Price owners: Lech Walesa who led the Polish nation to freedom, Czeslaw Milosz and Wislawa Szymborska - poets

Poland is a country with a beautiful countryside, fresh air and calm, lovely places. An animal which is characteristic for Poland is a stork If it builds a nest on you chimney or anywhere in your household it brings you happiness and prosperity. Maybe children? There is a Polish saying “A stork brings children”. Parents use it when small children ask this difficult question: ”How did I come to this world?”

As it comes to manners it is normal for a man to kiss a woman on her hand. It's very kind and shows respect. I also normal that a man opens a door for a woman and always lets her go first.

Our country is surely worth visiting. I hope that symbols I have listed above will help you recognize Polish culture, people and places. Maybe you’ll visit my country some day, and I’m sure that this visit will satisfy you.

Sport and physical education in Poland

I would like to express my opinion on physical education and doing sport by young Polish people.

Nowadays the level of physical education of young Polish people is very low . It is so because of two reasons mainly.

Firstly, the government spends very small amounts of money on sport.

In the consequence the condition of stadiums and other sport facilities is very poor. Some football clubs ceased to play because of this. Even if there is a talented young man, very often his talent is wasted because there aren’t good enough facilities to coach him/her.

Secondly, these days youngsters are spending more and more their free time watching tv and surfing internet instead of doing sport. The interest of mass sport such as running, cycling and skiing has declined.

However, school authorities worry about this situation and try to improve it somehow. What they are doing is to increase the number of p.e. lessons.

We usually have 3 p.e. lessons a week. This way students are forced to take part in some physical activities. Some of them do it willingly, for others it is like a torture. Anyway, they are on the move.

Unfortunately, again, a lot of schools don’t have good sport facilities which ican discourage students from doing sport.

So the government should definitely spend more money on sport facilities to have a healthier and happier society.

Just yesterday…all the roads drove to Rome.

"I wish to be in the movies, so I've decided to get my carton case and to go to Cinecittà, in Rome." Half a century ago this sentence was on the aspiring actors’ lips, the new hopeful directors meet in a bar of deep South, at Santa Maria di Leuca or in the

North at Bassano sul Piave in Ciccio's or Hans's bar they decide what to do.

Today the new mass media, have definitely destroyed the distances and the differences between the centre and the outer.

Indeed the new economic trends lean just towards the upgrading of the outer world.

On 25 February 2006 in Mesagne there was the first showing of a film by Sergio Rubini, fully shooted in our town and around:

"THE LAND".

The past capitals, today, are only open-pit museums, things for the cultural tourism. By now the facilities are devolved to the maximum level, mass media have provoked this revolution, too.

Alone, in the open countryside, we can recreate, on computer, any situation: either past battles or an alien invasion.

For the time being, my village, or rather my house, is the Centre of the World!

In September we were still thinking that’s just an April joke, when our teacher of Russian language, Irina Aleksandrovna Ubovic, who was born in Moscow, told us about our future long journey in Russia. However, when we were on the 1 st April at 11 hours and 35 minutes in “Aeroflot” airplane, we were very excited, and some of us were scared when we were flying above the clouds and belived that our dreams come true. Principal of 639 th

Moscow school, whose guests we were, waited for us on the airport “Sermetjevo”.

Moscow was magnificent with its huge birch forests, numerous church domes, wide, still littlew sleepy after its winter dream...

Our eyes were shining all week when we were there...We didn’t want to go home...People, who were apssing by, looked like heroes from Tolstoy’s novels, that we were reading a lot. Always serious, proud, polite, they accepted us with a great willingness for starting a new relationship. At the begining we were just saying shyny “spasiba!” and “pazalosta!” and later we were even dreaming in Russian.

At “Pushkin’s University”, where we were acommodated, we made some new friendships with Ukrainan, Bulgarian, Turkish,

Chinese, Avganistani people...

We used to wake up early in the morning and through the whole day we were just sightseeing Moscow. We weren’t even exhausted! We were amazed by seeing people reading novels in the underground. The fact that, beside the crowd and anxiety, there are no incidents, had a great impression on us.

It was a huge expirience for us to see the “Red square” and the temple “St Vasili’s Cathedral”, which has the domes similar to those in the fairy tales, and which is always crowded.

“The State Tretjakovsk Galery” and “Oruzeyna palace” with its royal belongings are certainly one of the greatest artefects in

Moscow. “Faberdge eggs”, a view from the looking place...you can see the whole Moscow from that looking place.

We weren’t still awear of how much work we needed to built this beaty and even more to take care of it every day. Before sleeping, sometimes, blond hairs of Russian appear in my mind, hands of artists, modern sharp shoes and”silk shawls exciting colours”, that wold Balashevic (our popular cantauthor) say. Everytime when a song “Slavic” starts, I will remember a Russian girl in ecstasy singing a serbian song!

“In my veins, old North is lonely

And I sometimes, don’t know what’s going on with him,

Why is he crazy, from happiness is making sadness?

My simply slavic soul,

Oh, my simply...slavic solu!”

I would like to describe and recommend to all my Comenius friends the photo exhibition I visited at the end of January. Actually most students from my school have visited it, as the display is really worth seeing.

The exposition „The Earth from Above”, which was shown from 4 th

November 2004 to 14 th February 2005 in Zabrze – the town in our area., is the result of long and laborious journeys: 150 countries visited, over

400 hours spent in the helicopter, thousands of kilometers traveled, in the quest for the most brilliant pictures and breathtaking shots. For example, there is a photo of a forest in France, where there is a clearing which looks like a heart from above

In Zabrze we could see 123 pictures of different places on Earth, taken from the bird's eye view. The pictures present mostly places untouched by humans. They are of overwhelming beauty. Thy look like paint pictures. Not all of them call out pleasant associations though. For instance, the picture of a desolated town in the vicinity of Chernobyl makes us draw the conclusion how the human race may come to the end.

The author of those masterpieces is Yann Arthus-Bertrand, a French photographer who is said to be one of the greatest temporary photographers. He said :”The Earth is a piece of art and a photographer gives the evidence of it.” Every picture is accompanied by the author’s comment, written in English, French and Polish. The comments describe the places in the photos. There is also an outline of main ecologic, social and economic problems that affect a region in a given picture. Thanks to those works visitors had the chance to see and learn something about the world and feel themselves as a part of it.

In Poland the exposition was shown in four cities: Krakow, Poznan,

Warsaw and Zabrze. The sum of all visitors, in those four cities, was over one billion!

Wherever the exhibition goes, there is no entrance fee, it is shown in public places during the whole day and night. It builds up great amount of public response and interest.

If the exposition happens to be shown in your country you must definitely see it!!!

Obligatory!!!

There are many music festivals and concerts in Poland organized throughout the year for young people. I would like to list the most interesting ones.

The first one is “Metalmania”, organized since 1986, usually in March or April in “Flying Saucer” – an enormous show hall where sport, theatrical, and circus events take place. It is in Katowice – the capital of our region. ”Metalmania” is a big festival of heavy metal music, where celebrities of this kind of music play, as well as less known artists. The event usually lasts for twenty four hours, sometimes even longer! Musicians play on two stages: a small one and a big one.

Metalica, a well-known heavy metal group performed at the festival once. This year, musicians of the Scandinavian group Apocalyptica announced their performance, as well as the groups: Cradle of Filth,

Turbo and Napalm Death.

The next great party is “Fina ł Wielkiej Orkiestry Ś wi ą tecznej

Pomocy” – WO Ś P. .In English it could be translated as “The Great Orchestra of Christmas Help” It is a big, nationwide, all-day-long event organized every year, since 1993, in January. During one day, it is always Sunday, throughout the country there are free concerts. Both indoor and outdoor ones. Mainly outdoor ones, though. All the famous and less known groups give concerts. In some places, usually in Warsaw-our capital city, our greatest artists perform in one concert together. During these concerts we collect money for definite needs; usually medical equipment for children, help for children’s hospitals or treatment of ill children and babies. This year we have collected over 6 millions dollars.

Over 100 thousands of volunteers take part in this campaign They raise money in the streets of their cities and stick people (who give them money) with little, red hearts – the symbols of WO Ś P.

You can also pay in some money by credit card or by taking part in many auctions which are organized this day.

Besides, At 8 pm a happening called “The light to the sky” takes place. Then, there are pyrotechnics shows organized in marketplaces in many cities .People strike candles, torches and lighters and they send this light towards the sky to become more noticeable and to unite with all the participants of this campaign.

The next festival is “Woodstock Stop”. It’s the event for people who are fond of rock music. “Woodstock Stop” has been organized for ten years, in the middle of summer holiday, in July or August. The event usually lasts for two days. Well-known and popular artists – representatives of rock music perform on a big, outdoor stage. Each edition of the

“Woodstock Stop” is accompanied by a banner. This year “Woodstock

Stop” (on 5 th and 6 th of August) will be organized under the banner of

“Love, Friendship and Music”. It should be noted, that this event is founded by the WO Ś P Charity as thanksgiving to all volunteers who collected money during The Final of WO Ś P in January. “Woodstock

Stop” is also free.

A totally different event is “Rawa Blues Festival” - an international blues festival. It takes place in autumn in Katowice. Many world-famous stars of the blues music take part in this festival. Young people, who feel blues, also can perform at the festival. All you have to do is to send demo recording with your own songs, which will be graded by a special jury which consists of experts of blues music. If your demo is good enough it’s very possible that you will perform at Rawa Blues Festival.

There will be the 25 th edition of this festival this year.

And the last interesting event - “Jazz Jamboree”. It is the oldest Polish jazz festival organized since 1958 which was connected with “JVC

Jazz Festival” in 2001. Many great Polish and foreign artists performed at this festival. Among them: Ray Charles, Joe Henderson, Benny Carter

& Tommy Flanagan Trio and The Manhattan Transfer.

As you can see, every young person can find something interesting for himself/herself in Poland. But these are only a few, the most important, regular music festivals organized in our country. Apart from them, there are numerous concerts, which are very often organized in many Polish cities, usually in Katowice, Warsaw or Cracow. But it doesn’t mean that there are no cultural events in smaller towns and villages at all.

Local leisure centres and local authorities also organize different festivals there. For instance, in my town - Tarnowskie Góry every September there is a 2-day festival called “Gwarki” .It is a great festival with a lot of events: a historical march, concerts, market-stalls, many roundabouts. This event is organized to rememeber King John III Sobieski.

He stopped in Tarnowskie Góry on his way to Vienna where he defeated the Turkish army in the famous battle there.
