Job Objective
To support the internationalisation of the university with a focus on new business
development in international student recruitment and exchanges.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Work with the university’s International Steering Group to develop an international
student recruitment and exchange strategy and plan for the university.
Take responsibility for the implementation of the agreed international student recruitment
and exchange strategy and plan, including the achievement of agreed targets.
Chair the international business development group of academic partner student
recruitment practitioners.
Engage with faculty and academic partner colleagues in identifying opportunities for new
business development in international student recruitment and exchanges.
Provide advice and guidance to faculty and academic partner colleagues in relation to
international development opportunities, especially in relation to student recruitment and
exchanges.
Maintain oversight of international student recruitment and exchange activities
undertaken by academic partners and provide co-ordination and support, as required.
Undertake international student recruitment and exchange promotional activities with a
focus on new business development, including organising and/or participating in
overseas visits and missions and establishing international links and networks. This will
include representing the university to international institutions and in relevant fora.
Produce all necessary materials in relation to international student recruitment and
exchanges, including appropriate web content, and in relation to other international
aspects of the university, as necessary.
Engage with colleagues in quality and standards regarding all aspects of quality
assurance in relation to international student recruitment, exchanges and related
collaborative activities.

Ensure provision of the necessary support and guidance to international students both
pre and post entry both directly through specialist advice from within the UHI World team
and more general and local support by working with student support services in
executive office and academic partners.
Prepare an application for a UHI Erasmus Charter and manage all activities undertaken
under the charter, once achieved.
Explore opportunities for international staff exchange and experience and facilitate such
arrangements as required.
Manage the UHI UKBA licence and ensure the necessary systems, procedures and
monitoring are in place in order to comply with UKBA requirements.
Represent the university to external bodies in relation to international student recruitment
and exchanges including SUIG (Scottish Universities International Group).
Ensure that the university is represented to other external bodies in relation to wider
aspects of international development, as required.
Research, collate and maintain information and data relevant to the international market
place and provide reports as required.
Evaluate international development opportunities and make recommendations as to
appropriate actions/approaches.
Manage the staff and resources of UHI World including the production of budgets,
targets and business plans.
Make recommendations as to international student fee structures and policies.
Ensure the maintenance of records and reporting in relation to the monitoring of
international student recruitment and exchange activities.
Participate in the UHI Executive Office Performance Management Procedure.
Take due care of yourself and others in respect of Health & Safety.
Attend training courses that may be identified as necessary by your Line Manager.
Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required,
commensurate with your grade.

The review process is carried out jointly by the line manager and employee and you are
therefore expected to participate fully in such discussions. In all cases, it is UHI’s aim to
reach agreement to reasonable changes, but where it is not possible to reach agreement
UHI reserves the right to make reasonable changes to your job description which are
commensurate with your grade after consultation with you.
