Signature of works contract: “Extension and rehabilitation of Chiciu pretreatment plant and trunk
mains to
Calarasi city”
Project no. CCI 2007 RO 161 PR 003 “Extension and rehabilitation of water and sewerage systems, in
Calarasi county”
On 20 October 2009, the contract for “Extension and rehabilitation of Chiciu water pretreatment plant
and
trunk main at Calarasi city”, part of the Project no. CCI 2007 RO 161 PR 003 “Extension and
rehabilitation of water and sewerage systems in Calarasi county” (financed by the European Union
Cohesion Fund - Environmental Sector Operational Program), was signed at ECOAQUA head office
by
Ing. Iorgovici Cladiu, General Director of SC SCOAQUA SA CALARASI, as project beneficiary and
by
Mr. Pedro Alfonso Navarro Navarro, representing PEYBER HISPANICA SL, leader of the
consortium
PEYBER HISPANICA SL/TECNICAS DE DESALINIZACION DE AGUAS SA, as the contractor.
The
value of the contract is 17.661.886,39 lei, including VAT, of which 81,84% is financed by the
European
Union Cohesion Fund, 12,52% from State Budget, 1,93% from Local Budget of Calarasi Municipality,
and 3,72% from SC ECOAQUA SA. The contract performance period is 19 months with a minimum
12
months Defects Liability Period.
Contract conditions used: “Conditions of Contract for Plant and Design-Build ” in accordance
with international regulations and national legislation.
The project comprises the construction and rehabilitation of: submerged intake, raw water pumping
station, floating pumping station, chemical storage and dosing plant, clarifiers, granular activated
carbon
storage and dosing plant, polymer preparation and dosing plant, sludge concentration tank, sludge
dewatering and storage, supernatant recovery, transmission pipelines to Calarasi water treatment plant,
electro-mechanical installation, etc.
The main results expected on completion of the project are:
- Full security of supply of raw water from the Danube irrespective of river level and flow, weather,
exceptional circumstances;
- Increased security of supply of pre-treated water to the Calarasi treatment plant.
- Enhanced quality of treated water by improving existing treatment facilities for the raw water
taken from the Danube River;
