Bull Shots February 2016 Old Town Chapter - #8194 Harley Owners Group Brandon, FL www.oldtownhog.com Paul’s Ponders Wow what a great start to 2016, the Assistant Director’s ride had a huge turn out and our chapter meeting was packed wall to wall. It’s great to be a part of Old Town Chapter where we have a very active membership. We have a lot of fun things in the works; our Activities Officer Jim Sharp is working on our next movie night for sometime late March early April. At our February meeting check in with our Merchandise Officer Keith Springer for some great tee shirt deals. We have some new members so I would like to go over our points and mileage programs in our chapter. First is the Posse Patch; you will receive this once you accumulate 18 points in a calendar year. The first year you will receive the big tombstone patch along with the year patch, each year after you will receive only the year patch. Also near the end of the year the Road Captains will pick 10-12 rides that will be designated as Posse Rides, if you were on any of these rides you will receive a Posse Rocker for each of the rides you were on. Each month there is a “Member of the Month” and a “Rider of the Month” winner that will be recognized at the chapter meeting. Member of the Month is the person (or persons) who have attended the most chapter events; this person (or persons) will receive a Member of the Month patch and $25 (if there is a tie, a roll of the dice will determine the cash winner but all will receive the patch). Rider of the Month is the person (or persons) who have the most chapter ride miles; this person (or persons) will receive a Rider of the Month patch and $25 (if there is a tie, a roll of the dice will determine the cash winner but all will receive the patch). Note: you must complete a ride to receive any miles for that ride. There are two pools of winners for each of the monthly awards: General Members and Board Members/ Road Captains. You can only win the monthly award once in a calendar year. At the end of the year there will be a Member of the Year and a Rider of the Year each will receive $100. We keep stats for all of our rides, events, and chapter meetings so always check in to be accounted for. As always it’s an honor to serve you. Director Paul Fore Robin’s Retreads Soon the HOT (Harley Officer Training) will be upon us. For anyone who has not attended this before, you should think about attending. There are so many different seminars to attend, covering every aspect of how HOG chapters operate. Anyone who has attended this weekend before, comes away realizing just how “together” this chapter is. You get a real appreciation for how everyone’s hard efforts in their respective roles, really pays off. On a different note, this is a good time of the year to make sure you stay on top of your bikes maintenance. Checking your tire pressures is more crucial now than ever, as the fluctuating temperatures effects your tire pressures. Also this is a good time to check your brake wear as well. You should be seeing some of the overnight rides on the website shortly, as the road captains are finalizing their plans. If you have a chance, try to make one or more of these rides. There a great time. Not just the destinations, but the comradery. Hope to see you on the road. Page 5 Message from the Safety Officer Safety is No Accident Chappy’s Chat - January 2016 First let me start by saying how overwhelmed I was at the turn out for my first WWC and WWR. We had 51 in attendance for the class and 42 motorcycles with a total of 54 bikers for the WWR. I appreciate all the positive feedback that I received as well. The next WWC and WWR will be February 6, 2016. I will be out of town for my niece’s wedding. Ron Rook (Paladin) has graciously agreed to take the class and my FFRC Leslie Monroe (Slider) will be leading the ride. I hope that all will come out in support of them both, and I know they will do a great job, and appreciate their help. Don’t forget about the OTC ABC’s. The link for the rules and guidelines are on the web site courtesy of Judi, and the link will be included in the Bull Shots, courtesy of Cathy. I have already started getting pictures sent, and ask that you remember to include the date, location, and building in your e-mail subject line or body.
