Sub: Monetary help for acquiring transportation facility for poor school going children.
Sir/Madam,
Jagriti Vidya Mandir is an English medium school started by the joint effort of some enthusiastic IIT Kharagpur
students and residents of Gopali village. The school, presently educating 170 students, is running in the premises
of I.M. High School since April 2008. We started this educational program to provide quality education to
the children whose parents, despite having the desire to educate their children, cannot do so because of their
economic status.
People in villages around our school are daily waged workers who barely have time to think about anything else
but the means to manage bread for their family. GYWS helps such families by providing their children low cost
yet quality education. The major hurdle in doing so is lack transportation facility for the students coming from
villages which are 5 to 10 km from our school. As there is no one to drop the children and pick them up from
school many students have dropped out (data given below in table).
As a solution to this problem, we have planned to arrange transportation facility for these children. We wish
to buy a rickshaw trolley or hire a taxi whose operation costs would be affordable and it will be able to carry
good number of children. We are confident that this step would encourage people to send their children to school
including those parents whose wards have dropped out.
A small helping hand from your side can bring smiles on the faces of many, This transportation arrangement can
bring many students from different villages for a proper education and a better future.
