Aims
This module aims to equip the student to deal with the
key issues relating to the management of Web
Servers and the operation of the World Wide Web,
including protocols, standards and technologies as
well as to be prepared for current and future
developments in the field.
Learning
Outcomes/Objectives
On successful completion of this module the student
will be able to:
LO1 critically evaluate the operational features of
core Web protocols, standards and technologies
from a variety of perspectives including
technical, organisational, social and personal.
LO2 undertake informed research into current and
future Web developments
LO3 install and configure a Web-based server and
associated software, both for static and dynamic
delivery of Web content
LO4 establish a safe and secure Web environment in
accordance with security policies and legal
requirements
LO5 effectively monitor and control the operations of

Assessment
This module will be assessed by coursework. This will
require the student to further research areas covered
in the course and produce a critical report as a regular
Blog – LO1 (50%). The student will produce postcourse research report in the form of web site (LO2,
LO3, LO4, LO5) (50%). The module mark will be the
average of the marks for the two reports.
