Civil & Environmental Engineering Computer Room Application
The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department has provided extensive computer facilities for use by its
graduate students. In order to promote a fair and harmonious working environment the graduate students are
asked to abide by the following policies.
1.
General Access
The computer labs in Engineering III are designated for use by Civil & Environmental Engineering graduate
students and by students enrolled in certain Civil & Environmental Engineering classes only.
Please do not provide to anyone who has not been issued a code. Non compliance could result in loosing your
access privileges
Adhere to UC Davis Computer and Network Use Policy including transmitting or reproducing material that
has a copyright, slanderous or defamatory in nature or displaying obscene, lewd or sexually harassing images
or text.

Printer Use
Laser printers are available in the lab. To try and keep down the cost of copies we request the following:

You are allowed only to print departmental business only.
•
You can not print copyright material.
•
You can not print large publications or manuals unless requested by departmental faculty
Files and Storage
Any files stored on local systems will be removed with out warning.
You may store files on the public drive. Please beware that you are responsible to back up your data.
The disk is not backed up and not guaranteed. In order that your folders not be trashed on the public drive,
you must register your directory in the “DirectoryRegistry.xls”.
This will let us know when things can be removed.

Reporting Problems
Please report any problems in the lab to Heidi Steiner Arnold, hmsteiner@ucdavis.edu or John Lin,
Jonlin@ucdavis.edu
Please fill out and return it in person to Heidi Steiner Arnold in room 3031 Engineering III. If you are not a
Civil & Environmental Engineering graduate student you will need a department faculty member to sponsor
you and there signature.
