HP, SIGFOX, IEEE, etc…
The 2015 premier of this large international gathering on connected solutions and things is being produced and run in
Grenoble with the support of partners: local authorities (Ville de Grenoble, Grenoble-Alpes Métropole) and institutional
stakeholders such as Invest In Grenoble-Isère, France-AEPI, Minalogic (global competitive cluster specializing in
micro- and nano-technologies and embedded intelligence), the Grenoble Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI),
Université Joseph Fourier, the Grenoble National Polytechnic Institute (INP) and the Grenoble School of Business (GEM).
Grenoble, Capital of the French Alps and ranked by Forbes magazine as the world’s 5th most innovative city in 2013,
is a natural venue for this international event. Its dense network of young technology companies and real ecosystem of
innovative start-ups and small companies is backed by successful businesses and major industrial Groups. With Université
Grenoble-Alpes and its faculties regularly listed in top international rankings, and the support of the local authorities (Ville
de Grenoble municipality, Métropole metropolitan council), this is an enabling environment for outstanding technical and
digital creativity. With “Digital Grenoble”, the Grenoble metropolis is also one of the French metropolises labelled “French
Tech” and its digital ecosystem has attained international scope.
The Internet Of Things is an industrial, economic and societal revolution that is due to reach all sectors: smart homes,
connected healthcare, activity sensors (bracelets, connected textiles, etc.), connected cities (mobility, safety, environment,
smart district networks, governance), connected cars, and intelligent sports equipment (connected bracelets and
multi-sport accessories). No field will remain untouched by this new way of interacting in our daily lives, which also raises
issues over secure and responsible data management.
Europe has all the ingredients to develop its leadership in this technological, industrial and societal evolution. Grenoble,
the “French-Style Silicon Valley” and one of the leading digital ecosystems in Europe, is naturally hosting the first IoT
Planet forum, an international showcase of today’s and tomorrow’s connected objects.
