MIX and STAR Instructions
Mountaineer Information Xpress, or MIX, is a web platform for WVU students and faculty. It will provide e-mail addresses
for all students, serve as a centralized location to register online for classes, check grades, find out about current campus
events, chat online with classmates, and receive targeted messages. MIX is a digital tool to make communication easier for
all members of the WVU community - both faculty and students. It is accessible from anywhere a user happens to be, at

MIX Instructions
How do I find my username?
Newly admitted students are mailed their username
after they pay their tuition deposit. Your username is
also the first part of your email address.
STAR Instructions
You will need to login to your personal MIX account to access
STAR. The STAR tab on your MIX page can be used to enter this
system. (Your username and password are the same for MIX
and Star.)
How do I find my WVU ID number?
You can look up your WVU ID number by going to
https://centralid.wvu.edu/wvuid/lookupwvuidinmix.
phtml. Log in at this website with your social security
number and your WVU ID will be displayed.
The main STAR page provides information on system availability. Clicking the text, “Click here to enter STAR” will open the
STAR system.
What is my default password?
The default password for all accounts is 6 digits. It is two
digits for the day of your birthday, followed by the last 4
digits of your WVU ID.
For example, if your birthday is May 3, 1974, and your
WVU ID number is 123-45-6789, your default password
will be 036789. If you were admitted to WVU prior to
July 11, 2004, your password may be the day of your
birth and the last four digits of your social security
number.
What is my e-mail address?
Your e-mail address is username@mix.wvu.edu. Ex: If
your username is abaxter, then your e-mail address is
abaxter@mix.wvu.edu.

The first page you’ll see once you enter the STAR system is the
Administrative Services page. Here, you can select to review
your Personal Information, Student Services and Housing, and
Financial Aid information.
The Personal Information tab allows you to view your address,
phone number, MIX email address, emergency contacts, etc.,
as listed with the University.
The Student Services and Housing tab allows you to view your
admission information, register for classes, review charges and
holds on your account, view your student records and academic transcripts. You can also use this page to access your
personal student account to review any outstanding fees and
make payments online.
The Financial Aid tab provides an opportunity to review your
overall financial aid status, any holds on the account, your
academic progress, and the cost of attendance, as well as your
financial aid awards, and special messages.
