Preparation of 1 mg/ml Gibberellic Acid
Stock Solution.
Quick-DissolveTM
Gibberellic Acid is a special formulation developed
at GoldBio that dissolves more easily in water than standard
Gibberellic Acid. In our lab, KOH is not required to drive the QuickDissolveTM Gibberellic Acid into
solution.
1. Add 100 mg of Gibberellic Acid Quick-Dissolve
TM
powder (Gold Biotechnology, Catalog
No G-120) to a 250 mL beaker.
2. Add 80 ml of molecular biology grade water to dissolve the Gibberellic Acid. Bring to
100 ml.
3. The solution of 1 mg/ml, also known as 1000 ppm. The concentration of Gibberellic Acid
used varies depending upon the experiment and in general will range from 0.1 mg/ml to 1 mg/
ml. You should perform pilot tests to determine the optimal concentration of Gibberellic to
use in your system.
4. It is best to use this solution fresh. However, some of the literature indicates that a stock solution of
Gibberellic Acid can be stored in the dark at 4°C . We have also seen labs that store the Gibberellic Acid
frozen at -20° C with no degradation of the product observed.
