Summer Reading 2014 8th Grade All students will read four books over the summer and complete a story map for each book. If you read a nonfiction book, you can choose to list interesting facts that you learned instead of the rising action. Some nonfiction books will have the same plot outlines as fiction, so you will need to be careful. 1. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Please complete a thorough story map. There will be a quiz on the second day of school followed by discussions, activities, and a test tentatively scheduled for September 5th. 2. Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis. Please complete a story map for this historical fiction. 3. Any book from the Historical Fiction or Nonfiction list below. 4. Any book from the Fun List.
