The Home Depot’s Commitment to Its Associates
®
The Home Depot , is committed to our core value of taking care of our associates. Customers know that the orange
apron means something special, and we want their shopping experience in our stores to be characterized by
helpful and knowledgeable associates. The Home Depot currently employs more than 300,000 associates, and we
are the fourth largest retailer listed on the S&P 500.
Compensation, Rewards and Recognition

Compensation: Even during the recent economic downturn, The Home Depot has set itself apart by
continuing valuable associate compensation and incentive programs such as 401k matches, Employee
Stock Purchase Plan discounts, and bonuses.

Success Sharing: In 2007, we realigned compensation and reward programs to ensure that our associates
are being appropriately recognized. We restructured our success-sharing program, an incentive program
for all salaried, full-time and part-time hourly store associates, based on sales performance. For 2008, an
additional enhancement to double the Success Sharing opportunity for Department Supervisors was
implemented. As a result, the aggregate Success Sharing payout has increased steadily and significantly
from $25M in FY06 to approximately $243 million in FY13. This bonus program is available to part-time and
full-time hourly associates. The Company also reinstituted restricted stock grants for our 7,000 Assistant
Store Managers.
 Homer Awards: Available in the U.S., this associate recognition program gives “Homer Awards” to
associates who consistently demonstrate behaviors that reflect The Home Depot’s values. As associates
accumulate Homer Awards, they have the ability to reach four milestone levels. Each time an associate
earns three awards they qualify for one of four levels and receive a cash incentive.
Benefits and Programs
The Home Depot offers extremely competitive pay and benefits for salaried and hourly full-time or part-time
associates.
 Health: The Home Depot offers all full-time associates access to a comprehensive health and welfare
benefits package which includes medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability and life insurance. For
all part-time associates, we offer dental, vision, critical illness and disability coverage.
 We leverage our volume to create benefits that are affordable, consumer-focused, and provide access to
choice. This allows associates to build a benefits package that best meets their personal and family needs.
 Non-traditional benefits: The Home Depot also looks for ways to bring more value to associates by
providing access to non-traditional benefits, such as group discount programs, through convenient payroll
deductions – homeowners insurance, auto insurance, legal plans, pet insurance, long-term care insurance,
etc.
 Employee Savings Programs: We offer savings opportunities to all associates, such as FutureBuilder
401(k) plan; Employee stock purchase plan.
 Backup Dependent Care: Home Depot rolled out a comprehensive backup dependent care solution in
2012, available to all employees across the country who have been with the company for at least one year.
The benefit allows for up to 10 days of backup care for any dependent, whether it's a child or elderly parent
or family member. The care can be in your home for a child or for an elderly parent, or it can be centerbased care for a child when your normal care has broken down ... The copay is significantly reduced from
what you would pay if you were out there on your own exploring care for a day or for 10 days.
Military/Veteran Programs
 Mission:Transition is The Home Depot’s charge to provide the military community a comprehensive job
search strategy in today’s challenging market by helping service men and women to understand the
differences between military and civilian cultures and translate their military experiences into civilian skills.

The Homer Fund
The Homer Fund is a nonprofit charity established to provide emergency financial assistance to The Home Depot
associates who are unable to afford their basic living expenses because of an illness, injury, death, unemployment,
fire or natural disaster. The Fund may also assist with essential funeral expenses for an uninsured associate or
dependent.

The Homer Fund remains an iconic part of our culture and lives one of the company’s core values of
taking care of our associates. To give some perspective on the importance of the Fund, last year the
Fund awarded $15.2 million to more than 13,000 associates, and since inception, the Fund has
awarded more than $113 million to more than 90,000 associates in need of shelter, food, clothing,
home repairs and funeral expenses through its Direct and Matching Grant programs.

Beginning in 2006, The Homer Fund began a program that provides college scholarships to the
children of all full-time and part-time associates. In 2014, 1000 children of THD associates were
awarded scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year, resulting in 7,500 scholarships awarded since
the program began.
Spring Hiring Season:
When most job seekers think of seasonal hiring, they usually think of the traditional holidays in November and
December. But Spring is The Home Depot's selling holiday, making it the busiest hiring season as well.
We begin taking applications as early as December and January in some of the warmer southern and western
markets in search for part-time associates to help provide excellent customer service. Most positions are part-time.
Associates will be assigned responsibilities based on their previous retail or home improvement experience, and
depending on the needs of individual stores in order to free up our regular associates in customer-facing positions.
For consideration, candidates can apply for positions at careers.homedepot.com.
Diversity & Inclusion:
The Home Depot’s eight core values speak directly to providing a diverse and inclusive workplace and shopping
experience. Our values are: doing the right thing; giving back; taking care of our people; excellent customer
service; building strong relationships; respect for all people; creating shareholder value; and entrepreneurial spirit.
We strive to create an environment where our associates, customers and suppliers feel included, respected and
supported.
