Adams County Arts Council 125 S. Washington Street Gettysburg, PA 17325 717-334-5006 www.adamsarts.org June 16, 2015 ACAC AND NEW OXFORD BUSINESSES SCAVENGER HUNT Dear Business Owner: The Adams County Arts Council would like to partner with New Oxford businesses in a scavenger hunt fundraiser. The concept is that a unique item in your business will be photographed and participants in the hunt will need to search local businesses to find the item, photograph it and record where the item was found. How this benefits your business: The event will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 1:00-4:00. Since the participants will not know where the item is located he/she will need to enter all participating businesses to see if the item can be located. Each business will be listed in the scavenger hunt directory. This could mean a lot of foot traffic in your business during a time that might not normally be a busy time for you. How this benefits the Arts Council: Each participating business will pay a $25 entry fee to be included in the “hunt.” Each hunter will also pay an entry fee to participate in the game. Here’s how it will work: If you are “game” for this fun and exciting event just complete the enclosed entry form and mail it along with your $25 fee in the envelope provided prior to July 10. During the week of July 20, I will visit your business during regular business hours so that you and I can determine what item in your business is unique to you (it could be your menu design, a souvenir that only you sell, a picture/poster on your wall). Each item will fall into an arts genre (culinary, visual art, graphic art, architecture design, sculptures, pottery, etc.). Once the item is selected I will take a photo of the item. On August 8, the day of the hunt, each participant in the hunt will be given a directory which includes a map of the town, the list of participating businesses and a photo of the items selected. Participants can form teams with up to four team members for the hunt. This may make it easier for them to split up since there is a large area to cover in New Oxford. Participants will bring their finished photos and answer sheet to the finish line no later than 4:00 p.m. All correct entries will be placed in a hat and the winner will be drawn. There will be a first, second and third place monetary prize. Here’s a way for the local businesses to support the Adams County Arts Council and receive what could be a huge benefit for themselves. Participating businesses will be recognized not only in the directory but in publicity in the Gettysburg Times and Evening Sun and on posters that will be distributed around town advertising the event. You will receive a poster to place in your window indicating your support of the event. Unable to participate in the “hunt” but would still like to support the Adams County Arts Council? You can become a sponsor of the event with a $25 donation. Your business will be featured in all advertising and in the program. Just check the SPONSOR box on the enclosed form. Thank you for considering this opportunity to partner with ACAC. If you have any questions you can call the ACAC office at 717-334-5006 or my cell at 717-339-7057.
