It normally takes place between ages 8 to 14 and lasts a duration of 4 years. Menarche- a girl's first menstrual period (marking the begining of ovulation) Spermarche- a boy's first ejaculation that occurs during sleep or direct stimulation Body Rhythms Once the HPA axis has occured, hormones will affect stress, appetite, sleep, and other vital parts of healthy growth.. ● Emotions and impulse increase ● Biorhythms fluctuate; such as the times your body needs sleep. ● Most adolescent males have what is reffered to as eveningness. This makes teenagers more alert at night than in the day... Diet Pills -Steroids -Origins -Reducing Eating Disorders The Transformations Of Puberty •Physical growth –Growth spurt: The relatively sudden and rapid physical growth that occurs during puberty. –Tonsils & adenoids (lymphoid system) decrease in size. –Skin becomes oilier, sweatier and more prone to acne –New hair grows Sexual Maturation –Sexual body changes •Primary Sex Characteristics: Organs involved in conception and pregnancy. •Secondary Sex Characteristics: Traits not directly involved in reproduction. Earlier puberty & weaker social taboos mean teens have sexual experiences at younger ages. Early correlates with depression and drug abuse. »2. Unmarried teen mothers. »3. Raising a child has become more complex and expensive. »4. Mothers of teenagers are often employed and therefore less available as caregivers. »5.
