PURPOSE
To ensure the Tumut Aerodrome is operated in a safe and efficient manner in
accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirements.
2.
SCOPE
This policy applies to the Director Engineering Services and delegates, each
Aerodrome Reporting Officer and any Emergency Services personnel at the
Tumut Aerodrome.

POLICY STATEMENT
The Tumut aerodrome is presently categorised as a registered aerodrome.
The Tumut aerodrome is not certified, as there are no regular passenger
transport (RPT) or charter services. Tumut Shire Council desires to maintain
the aerodrome to the same standard as a certified aerodrome, as this will
expedite the issuing of an aerodrome certificate, should RPT or charter
services ever return to the aerodrome.

The aerodrome’s facilities and equipment are in accordance with the
standards specified in the Manual of Standards (MOS-Part 139);

The Aerodrome Manual contains all of the particulars required under
the regulations;

The aerodrome’s operating procedures, as documented in the
Aerodrome Manual, make satisfactory provision for the safety of
aircraft; and

The applicant will be able to properly operate and maintain the
aerodrome.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Engineering Services is responsible for implementing and
ensuring adherence to this policy.
6.
PROCESS
6.1 Procedure
For procedure, refer to the separate document: Aerodrome Manual for Tumut
Aerodrome, held by the Director of Engineering Services and each Aerodrome
Reporting Officer.
The Director of Engineering Services will update and re-issue the Aerodrome
Manual, as required, under CASA regulations.
6.2 Emergency Exercises
In conjunction with the Local Emergency Management Committee, Council will
conduct emergency management exercises at the Tumut Aerodrome. The
frequency will be determined by the Local Emergency Management
Committee. Documentation for each exercise shall be prepared in accordance
with the current Civil Aviation Advisory Publication (CAAP): Airport Emergency
Planning in Australia.
Annual aerodrome emergency exercises are not required at the Tumut
Aerodrome.
6.3 Aerodrome Reporting Officers
The Director of Engineering Services shall nominate qualified and trained
Aerodrome Reporting Officers, as required under CASR 139.125 and Civil
Aviation Advisory Circular AC 139-13(0).
Airservices Australia and CASA shall be advised of the name, address and
telephone number(s) of each ARO.
