Welcome back staff and students!
Principal’s Message
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2015-2016 school year. On behalf of the admin team I
extend a warm welcome to our many new students, parents, and staff. We pray that the 2015-2016 school year
proves to be one of academic and spiritual growth.
One of the joys of a new school year is that it provides us with a chance to come back refreshed and eager to
accomplish great things. A commitment to begin anew! I would encourage you to be active in your child’s
learning. Be sure to communicate with teachers and administration when necessary. Please encourage your child
to get involved with the numerous extra curricular activities, clubs, groups and teams.
Our Grade 9 students have already been immersed in a seamless transition to high school thanks to the stellar
efforts of our Grade 10/11/12 Link Crew leaders.
Our annual Grade 9 Parent Night will be held Wednesday September 16 at 7pm.
Open to all Grade 9 parents, we encourage you to come with your child.
Make sure you check out our new administration office that was renovated this summer.
Other great events that you will be hearing about this month include:
Red Feather for United Way. Student Council will promote a great school spirit while supporting a worthy
cause during the week of September 14-19th
Our opening school mass will be held Wednesday September 23 at 1 pm in our gymnasium.
Please feel free to join us.
Our school will collectively participate in the Terry Fox Community Walk on Friday September 25 at 1pm.
Again it is a great school spirit event while supporting a worthy cause.

A Message from our Chaplain
Saint Pope John Paull II brought many insights to the life of a family, and taught all of us that a family possess
features of the Church. We believe at UCC that our school runs much like a family because of our commitment
to one another and our faith. A similar feature we share with the Church is the importance of coming together to
celebrate the Eucharist.
This month we will be holding our System-Wide Mass on September 16th at Our Lady Help of Christians to pray
for another blessed year, as well as welcome all new staff members to the school board.
In addition, our First School Mass for the academic year will be held on September 23rd in the school gymnasium.
All students, staff, and parents are encouraged to gather at our Lord’s dinner table for a Holy Meal. Fr. Jim
Higgins from Blessed Sacrament/ St. Agnes will be our celebrant. Let us link together this year in continually
working on becoming what we are……A FAMILY!
Your Brother in Christ,
Mr. Dula

This requires two things from you ‐ a valid email address for our files and your consent for the school to email you. Due to Canada’s new An Spam Legisla on (CASL), it prohibits us from sending you commercial electronic messages (CEMs) without your express consent. Currently, we are able to rely on implied consent which exists where you have provided your email address to the school board. These messages (CEMs) could include important informa on to parents, guardians and adult students about a broad range of ac vi es, including but not limited to yearbook sales, educa onal excursions, school ac vi es, student photos, prom or dance ckets, athle c events and fundraisers. If your email address is on file with the school board, you will have received an email containing a link to the Board’s website. http://www.st-clair.net/canadian-anti-spam-legislation.aspx The page you were directed to allowed you to indicate your expressed consent to receive CEMs from the school, the School Advisory Council and/or the St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) that may include informa on of a commercial nature. You may withdraw your consent at any me via the same online form located on the Board or school’s website used to provide explicit consent. If you do not give your consent, you will s ll con nue to receive school related non‐commercial emails. Your email address will not be shared with any other organiza on. Please complete the form at the above link and submit it back to the school as soon as possible. We require your name, your child(ren’s) name and grade to enter the info accurately into our database. Following that entry, you will receive a CASL compliance email from the Board for you to provide explicit consent. Thank you for your coopera on September 2015
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Important information for parents/guardians regarding insurance for students who
participate in extra-curricular sports.
I want to make you aware of a policy of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, which
affects all students, who wish to participate in extra-curricular sports activities.
Under Sec. C Policy – Student Accident Insurance, which was passed by the Board of
Trustees in August 2010, all students who participate in extra-curricular sports activities,
either at school or organized by the school, must have coverage under an accident and life
insurance policy. This coverage may be purchased by the parent/guardian under a personal
family plan obtained privately; or, through the Reliable Life Insurance Company. For more
information about the Reliable Life Insurance Company, please visit the company’s website
at www.insuremykids.com
Although the plan offered by the Reliable Life Insurance Company is facilitated by the
St. Clair Catholic District School Board, the Board assumes no responsibility for the cost of
the plan, applications, premium payments or claims; nor does the Board receive any
remuneration from the carrier.
Only those students, whose parents/guardians have signed a declaration for the 2015-2016
school year, which states the student is insured either by a private plan, or by the plan
offered by the Reliable Life Insurance Company, will be permitted to participate in extracurricular sports.
Parents who opted to purchase coverage through the Reliable Life Insurance Company last
year should note that that coverage has now expired. They will need to sign a new
declaration form for this school year and comply with Student Accident Insurance policy if
their child(ren) wish to continue participating in extra-curricular sports activities.
Although insurance coverage is mandatory for students who participate in extra-curricular
sports activities, accidents can happen anywhere and at any time. The Board urges all
parents to consider the purchase of insurance, to ensure adequate coverage of children at
school. Please speak to your coach for more information.
If you have any questions, please call the office.
Sincerely,
Ray Power

SCHOOL CASH ONLINE
SCHOOL CASH ON LINE is the preferred method of payment for all UCC related school costs. We are working to
make most items payable in this manner. Please visit sccdsb.schoolcashonline.com for more information and to
get registered. It is the most safe and secure way to pay. No worry about sending cash to school or waiting for a
cheque to clear.
SYNERVOICE ATTENDANCE CALLS
Please note that the automated phone call regarding attendance only provides information about your
child’s absence for a particular day. This does not clear your child’s attendance and a parental note or
phone call is still required in order to avoid consequences for missing classes.
You may leave a voice mail message 24/7 at 519-351-2987 ext. 4003.
