Introduction
M/s. Sona Sati Organics Private Limited has its existing molasses based distillery of 45 KLPD along with
co-generation power plant of 1 MW at village Rajapatti Kothi, P.O. Rajapatti, Tehsil Baikanthpur,
District Gopalganj, Bihar based on MEE followed by incineration route.
Environmental Clearance for the same has been obtained from MoEFCC, New Delhi vide Letter No. J11011/25/2007- 1A II (I) dated 08th June, 2007 and amendment on dated 13th April, 2009.

to 75 KLPD) & Co-generation Power Plant (1.0 to 5.0 MW) along with installation of 125 KLPD Grain
Based Distillery in Existing Distillery Plant at Village Rajapatti Kothi, P.O. Rajapatti, Tehsil Baikanthpur,
District Gopalganj, Bihar.

As per EIA Notification dated 14th Sep., 2006 and as amended from time to time; the project falls in
Category ‘A’, Project or Activity - 5(g).

State : Bihar
Area Details:
Total plant area: 30.33 Acres (12.27 ha). No additional land is required for the proposed expansion
& installation, as the same will be done within the existing plant premises.
Greenbelt / Plantation Area: 10 acres (4.05 ha) i.e. 33 % of the total plant area has already been
developed under greenbelt / plantation and the same will be maintained.
No National Park, Wildlife Sanctuary, Biosphere Reserve, Tiger / Elephant Reserve, Wildlife
Corridor, Protected/Reserved Forest etc. falls within 10 km radius of the project site.
Gandak River (6 km in NE direction) falls within 10 km radius of the project site.

Basic Requirements for the project
Water Requirement (KLD): The total water requirement for proposed expansion & Installation
project will be 1799 KLD.
Source: Ground Water
Power Requirement (MW): The total power requirement for proposed expansion & Installation
project will be 4.0 MW.
Source: Proposed 5.0 MW of Co-Generation Power Plant, State Electricity Board & D.G. set (for
power back-up)
Man Power Requirement: The man power required for proposed expansion project will be 160
persons.
Source: Unskilled/ Semi-skilled-local area; skilled- nearby areas & outside areas also.
Raw Material Requirement: The main raw materials required for the proposed expansion project are
Molasses (Total Quantity 333 MT/day) & Grain (Total Quantity 310 MT/day). Other chemicals required
for the Distillation process includes Nutrient, Yeast Culture, Antifoam (Silicone based) and Sodium
Hydroxide.
Fuel Requirement: The fuel requirement for the proposed expansion & installation project will be
Indian Coal/Rice Husk/ Spent wash.
Steam Requirement: The steam requirement for the proposed expansion & installation project will be
48 MT.
Boiler Details: 18 TPH Incineration Boiler existing and 36 TPH Multi-fuel Boiler proposed with ESP/Bag
House as APCE.

Environment Management Plan
All major sources of air pollution will be provided with ESP/Bag House to maintain particulate matter
emissions within permissible limit. No major water, noise & soil pollution is envisaged from the project
activity. Various mitigation measures are will be undertaken to take care of the environment in
respect of air, water, noise, soil & the green cover of the plant site & nearby villages.
The project is/will be based on Zero Effluent Discharge. Spent wash generated during Molasses
operation is being/will be concentrated in Multi-effect evaporator and then used as fuel in boiler. Solid
waste generated is/would be DDGS which will be sold as Cattle/Poultry feed and ash from the boiler
which will be sold to brick manufacturers. Process condensate from MEE will be recycled back to the
process. Rainwater would be utilized to recharge the underground resource through scientifically
designed rainwater harvesting system.
