WORK AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Programme Officer with African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF)
Main Duties:
Providing and supporting innovative business solutions in the AATF business
processes through:
o Guiding the overall AATF organisational monitoring and evaluation
strategy,
o Assisting in coming up with feasibility and baseline studies, impact
assessments,
o Deployment and commercialisation of agricultural technologies,
o Conducting value chain analysis and creating market linkages across
AATF projects
o Assisting the implementation of agribusiness development activities for
AATF
o Support any special assignments in the Business Development Department
in particular and the Technical Operations Directorate in general
Main achievements
o Supervised a consultancy to set up AATF comprehensive monitoring and
evaluation system;
o Organised and supervised a baseline survey for the Integrated Striga
Management in Africa Project;
o Carried out an evaluation of Integrated Striga Management in Africa
Project in Western Kenya;
o Participated in the development of two projects business plans namely

Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist with Kenya Forest Service (KFS) under
World Bank Funded Institutional Reforms Support Program- Natural Resource
Management Project
Main Duties:
Guiding the overall project monitoring and evaluation strategy which includes:
o Providing technical support in design of KFS monitoring and evaluation
system;
o Ensuring quality in design of strategies and programmes for the achievement
of organizational results with SMART indicators to measure results;
o Promoting optimal involvement of staff members and other stakeholders in
the development of strategic planning and monitoring and evaluation
frameworks;
o Promoting effective performance monitoring, evaluation and information
systems by upgrading monitoring and evaluation tools;
o Supervising and managing the monitoring and evaluation unit staff and
budgets as well as supervising the work of consultants;
o Liaison between KFS and other government and non government institutions
on M&E related issues to ensure integration and synergy in planning and
information sharing and exchange;
o Ensuring monitoring and evaluation information is accessible to all
stakeholders and public by compilation and dissemination of various M&E
reports;
o Documentation of best practices and success stories
o Participation in organizational strategic planning as well as annual work
planning and budgeting;
o Participation in projects design by providing inputs on project M&E
frameworks;
o Planning and organizing field supervision missions by the top KFS
management;
o Overseeing the entire process of performance contracting and its monitoring
and evaluation for the entire KFS right from the board of management to the
field officers;

o Capacity building of KFS staff and other partners on M&E related issues.
Key Achievements
o Set up a robust M&E system complete with a manual through a participatory
process;
o Organised and supervised a baseline survey for the Natural Resource
Management Project;
o Set up a monitoring and evaluation committee and built their capacity
through training them on M&E;
o Trained staff on monitoring and evaluation as part of M&E system
development;
o Carried out four surveys and produced reports on customer satisfaction, tree
resource inventory, staff satisfaction and HIV and Aids at workplace;
o Produced KFS quarterly reports and annual report in line with the KFS
performance contracts;
o Participated in the development of two projects namely: Miti Mingi Maisha
Bora Phase II and Sustainable Charcoal Production;
o Participated in the development of staff performance appraisal tools and
implementation of the same;
o Played a key role in the Development of the KFS strategic plan

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with Swedish Cooperative Centre- Vi
Agroforestry project
Main Duties
Guiding the overall project monitoring and evaluation strategy which includes:
o Monitoring the project’s progress against objectives to ensure the project is
working towards the set goals and objectives;
o Designing and supervising various surveys at all stages i.e. design of data
collection instruments, data collection, entry, cleaning, analysis, and report
writing, as well as dissemination of the findings and lessons learned;
o Writing timely monitoring and evaluation reports and disseminating the same
to the management and the target group for advise on how to improve the
project’s service delivery,
o Development and implementation of new monitoring and evaluation tools;
o Representing the project at the various stakeholders’ fora on various issues
pertaining to monitoring and evaluating community development in the
project area and establishing networks and partnerships;
o Training staff on various monitoring and evaluation aspects and contributing
to the staff improvement through staff assessments.
Key Achievements
o Played a key role in the setting up of the project’s M&E system as well as designing
the management information system;
o Carried out various surveys both baseline and progressive/ midterm and produced
reports for use by the project actors;
o Developed and tested two new monitoring and evaluation tools (PIA and Octagon)
which were later adopted by the entire program in the East African Region;
o Facilitated in various local and international M&E training workshops
o Produced various monitoring and activity progress reports;
o Carried out staff assessments which resulted in a lot of improvement in staff welfare
and working relationship.
August 2004 to Dec 2005:
Project Officer with Swedish Co-operative Centre-LIFE (Livelihood Improvement
Through Farmer Empowerment) project.
Main Duties
o Coordination of project activities including providing technical backstopping
to project executing agencies;
o Development of monitoring and evaluation systems for monitoring and
evaluating the projects outputs as part of impact assessment;
o Ensuring project implementation, management and timely production of
reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) as per the project policy;
o Liaison and coordination of GOK ministries and CBOS involved in the project
implementation;
o Planning, budgeting and accounting for project finances as well as preparing
and reviewing the integrated activity-based annual work plans and budgets;
o Facilitating capacity building activities by organising trainings and workshops
for stakeholders (farmers and technical staff).
o Representing the project at the various stakeholders’ fora on various issues
pertaining to community development.

engaged in collective marketing and purchasing of agricultural produce and inputs

Facilitated the revival of four Agricultural Cooperative Societies and registration of

Facilitated capacity building the farmers on value addition and marketing (bulk
marketing and purchasing of agro-inputs);
Participated in the development of various agricultural training modules one of
which was Farming as a Business training manual which was used regionally;
Facilitated the establishment of market in information centres and dissemination of
market information to farmers which resulted to better prices for agricultural
commodities.
