This presentation will explain the difficulty in identifying and appropriately managing potential perpetrators of mass violence incidents. We will also review some of the key indicators that threat assessment professionals consider. Finally, we will emphasize the importance of reporting concerning behaviors to a central location, such as the OTC Behavioral Intervention Team, in order to maximize our chances to identify and properly manage potential threats. This fee will be paid for by your department. If you must cancel, you must do so 7 calendar days prior to the class date. Your department will still be charged if you fail to cancel within this timeline. Conflict Resolution The emphasis for this module is to provide the leader with the knowledge to be proactive and to recognize potential conflicts before they escalate. The approach used is to teach leaders to understand the personality preferences of their employees and to observe their actions and reactions for possible variances from normal behavior. This provides the leader the knowledge to know when to intervene and what approach is best for the individuals involved. In addition this module teaches the need for resolving conflicts that were not identified and addressed before they escalated. Techniques include: when to make the intervention, how to make the intervention, and the importance of keeping proper documentation.
