Critical Lens Essay: Step Four – Writing the Conclusion
THIS CONCLUSION IS DUE WEDNESDAY May 13th NO EXCUSES!
Write your CONCLUSION here:
1. Start your conclusion by restating your claim/thesis – basically what you said in the
introduction about how the quote is proven/disproven by your literary examples.
2. Explain the ‘so what?’ of why this matters. Why is it important that we understand
these ideas that you have explained relative to the quote. Why do people need to
understand this? For example, you can connect your essay back to the larger themes
we have discussed this yeah in everything we have read and discussed. In other
words: what’s the point? Why did I have you write this essay?
(Be sure to underline or italicize book titles and put short story titles in quotes.)
You DO NOT have to fill in all the lines. Just write a sound conclusion that restates
your ideas and leaves the reader with something important to think about.
