Fidel Castro’s Childhood Have you ever heard of Fidel Castro? Well if you didn’t now you will. Fidel Castro is the dictator of Cuba, but I will be talking about his childhood long before his dictatorship. The three points I will be talking about are when and where Fidel Castro was born, his family, and the education that he had. After this hopefully you will know a little more about Fidel Castro. First, I will be talking about when and where Fidel Castro was born. Fidel Castro was born on August 13, 1926 though some people say he was born a year later. Fidel Castro given name was Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz. Fidel Castro was born near Biran, located in Cuba’s Eastern Oriente Province. Fidel Castro was the third of six children, including two of his brothers, Raul and Ramon and three sisters, Angelita, Emma, and Augustina which I will talk about in the next paragraph. Next, I will be talking about Fidel Castro’s family. Like I said before, he has two brothers Raul and Ramon and he also has three sisters, Angelita, Emma, and Augustina. Fidel Castro’s parents name were Angel, his father, and his mother Lina. Fidel Castro’s father was a wealthy sugar plantation owner, and he was originally from Spain. Fidel Castro’s mother was the maid of Angel’s first wife, Maria at the time of Fidel Castro’s birth. When Fidel Castro was 15, his father married Lina. As you can see Fidel Castro’s family is just like any other family. Lastly, I will be talking about Fidel Castro’s education. Fidel Castro was educated in private Jesuit boarding schools. Fidel Castro was intellectually gifted, so he was a very smart man. In school, Castro pitched for the school,s baseball team. After Castro’s graduation in late 1945, Castro entered law school at the University of Havana. Castro graduated with a law degree. Fidel Castro all the way through school had been a very smart man. In conclusion, Fidel Castro’s childhood from all the people in his family to his education is a far from ordinary childhood. By:Jarrett Imler 32813
