Proudly Presents
In commemoration of the 225 th anniversary of the Compromise Dinner of 1790, the
Foundation is proud to present a reenactment of this famous dinner party, hosted by Thomas
Jefferson in New York City for Alexander Hamilton and James Madison. The dinner resulted in the “Grand Compromise” which created Washington, D.C. as the nation’s capital and allowed the federal government to assume state debt and become the chief taxing authority.
We present noted thespians/historians Bill Barker as Jefferson, John Douglas Hall as Madison, and Ian Rose as Hamilton. They will bring the events of June 20, 1790 to life, reprising the momentous conversation between these Founding Fathers.
Guests will enjoy a reception followed by a period-themed dinner and wines hosted by The
Tides Inn overlooking the waters of Carter’s Creek.
This is a very special event with seating limited to 88 persons. Tickets are $150 per person and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Paid reservations may be made at the
Foundation Office or call Trish Geeson with credit card information at 804.438.6855.
