Wells Fargo SPRING 2013 Berkeley Women In Business VOLUME #1 ISSUE #2 BlackRock Office Visit Our Partnership: Chimpped One of the benefits that our corporate partners have given our organization is the ability to organize office visits for our members. Many of our members are curious to explore different sectors of the financial and business industries and are rarely given the opportunity to go behind doors and experience a day within a successful corporation. This semester, our executive board was able to plan a special office visit to the BlackRock San Francisco office and have our members experience the day to day activities within the office. This was a very special opportunity for our members to gain a greater insight into the financial service industry and aid them in the process of jumpstarting a career within financial services by meeting and networking with female professionals within BlackRock. The BlackRock office visit was one of several done this year as others included companies such as Google and GAP. Berkeley Women in Business’s various office visits and opportunities to speak with successful professionals within the financial and business industries enable our members to enter the business world confident and knowledgeable of which field they would like to pursue in the future. Berkeley Women in Business looks for sponsorships that can serve meaningful connections. Chimpped is a startup company that became our corporate sponsor this academic year. In the fall semester, Chimpped gave an informative presentation on their startup. Our members were able to understand multiple elements of entrepreneurship. In addition, we learned much about how the company’s seed was sown and how it continues to grow. Berkeley Women in Business is interested not only in partnering with major firms but also entrepreneurs and start-ups. We like to foster strong, mutual relationships with our corporate sponsors. Our goal is to build relationships that can benefit both parties in helping each other grow and develop.
