This workshop self-study is offered by the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Carolina. Participants will identify and use testtaking strategies to increase critical reading skills and improve timing/pacing of the NEW (5331) Praxis exam. 2. Participants will utilize test-taking strategies to complete content-specific questioning based on individual case studies. 3. Participants will demonstrate understanding of the NEW (5331) computer-based Praxis exam format. 4. Participants will demonstrate use of critical thinking, higher-order thinking skills and test-taking strategies in practice activities. A b o u t t h e I n s t r u c t o r Dr. Beth Barnes received her Ph.D. and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina and undergraduate degree from Furman University. Dr. Barnes currently serves on faculty at the University of South Carolina and previously at N. C. State University. She has specific experience in rehabilitation following stroke and TBI, developmental disabilities and in public school populations. Dr. Beth Barnes has publications in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, American Journal on Mental Retardation, and the Journal of Medical SpeechLanguage Pathology.
