Clark’s Climbers
This month is almost over for Clark’s Climbers. We will be doing lots of fun things this week!
We kick of Red Ribbon Week and also have our Mad Scientist Day on Friday! Please make
sure you have everything turn in for that fun day! A letter was sent home last week. We will not
have a story this week. We will be doing fun Halloween learning activities. We will have our
spelling and sight word test on Friday so please be practicing the red word flash cards each
night. We will be working with the “th” sound this week so please practice spelling words that
have this sound like this, them, and tenth. Please make sure that you return your child’s reader
each day. We use them in class. In math, we are still working on subtracting. This week we will
subtract from 4, 5, 6, and 7. We are working on 8’s addition facts this week. Our timed test will
be on Friday.

Language Arts
Writing
In Language Arts, we will be working on
printing ALL upper & lower case letters
with 100% mastery (this means NO
reversals), using PROPER nouns (NAMES
of people, places, things; capitalized), asking
QUESTIONS, producing interrogative (?)
sentences, describing story elements
(characters, setting, beginning, middle, end),
capitalizing names & dates of people, read/
produce words with blends & diagraphs
This 9 weeks students will focus
on Informative/ Explanatory
texts: name a topic, several facts
and a closing sentence. 5

Math
In math,we will learn about
subtraction skills. We will relate
counting to subtraction, apply
operations to subtraction, and fluently
subtract within 5. We will work on
subtraction for the 2nd 9 weeks.
Subtraction flash will be coming home
today to help reinforce subtraction
skills.
